I've got the Spectrum Synth, the Spectrum Bass and the Analog Filter (but that's still in London). They've been in storage (with most of my Canadian gear) for the Last three years. I'd say their biggest drawback is the lack of knobs. The Synth, AFAIR, had a truck load of paramaters controlled by Sys...

the s950 is a better choice IMO, because you can expand the memory of the 950 up to 2.25mb, the 900 is just 750kb I beleive the memory chip is proprietary... The S-950 also has the facility to interface with the ME35T Trigger-to-MIDI Converter. (i'd love to find an XE8!) I'd say go for the AX-73 as...

I've used an R-70 to good effect on simpler setups. Mostly triggering samples. BAsically any (more advanced) drum machine can be coaxed into sequencing external gear. I've also used a MSQ-100, but it's only one track. 'Inexpensive' and 'easy' are relative terms (what may be 'easy' for me may not be ...

Yes it can be programmed. Recently sold mine to finance a move.... IMHO a highly underrated/overlooked synth. 4 part multitimbral....much more to it than a drum machine!! I think you are limited to 16 steps though.... I also have a Novation KSR and a Nord 2r. Both are 4 part multi w/ Drums , b...

HERE Samplers ARE synthesizers. IMHO. The sound generation of the MicroWave II/XT/XTk is based on wavetable synthesis. This type of synthesis combines analog access and digital flexibility in a simple way. Although wavetable synthesis is a form of "sample playback" in principle, you should avoid th...

I went for the XStation, although the XIO synth sounds better by a few degrees XIO patches load into the X ( i'm sure they sound 'not the same', but close at least) XIO inputs can't route thru the F/X (boo!) XIO has 1 XLR 1 1/4" jack...??? (X has Neutrik combo jacks...!!!) MIDI in is needed for the ...

Hi i've got the MSQ-100. It's the single track version that came out after the 700. Love it to bits. Used it mostly to sequence a Drumstation and a sampler. (16 tracks! Who needs it!?). Friend/bandmate has the 700 in his studio. He uses it to sequence several rack modules (2xD-110, R8, Samplers).I h...

 Have you considered a multitrack recorder? WTF? triggering 4-5 min samples.....??? Why do I need one if my 404 works just fine? By the way, what's wrong with triggering long samples? Is it against rules or something? Sorry both comments were intended for the Original poster, ...
