Re: Virus Moog filters question

I was wondering if someone could elaborate on the much hyped "moog filters" that are available on the later versions of the Virus C OS. So, my understanding is that the moog filters are equivalent to the ladder filters in the 6.5 OS. Also, for those of you who have used this version of the Virus, h...

Re: Virus Moog filters question

Ive heard that it can also be good for some dark aggressive bass sounds too. I actually just bought one on ebay, so Ill be able to try out its sounds first hand very soon. Looking forward to it. Theres a surprising lack of audio samples online in terms of how the new filter sounds. You've probably ...

CLASSIC DRUM MACHINE SONGS - YouTube Links....

Hi all....

Not sure if anyone has done this yet...but I thought it would be fun to start a thread where people link videos to songs which used classic drum machines. Hopefully people will follow the same format:

Re: Classic DX7 Patches

Also be aware that you may find a lot of duplicates... ROM1a, 1b, 2a, and 2b were the factory sounds in Japan and ROM3a, 3b, 4a, and 4b were the factory sounds in USA... i prefer the USA ones but there are a few awesome sounds that are missing which are in the Japanese set. At least half of the sou...

Re: Classic DX7 Patches

I'm not looking for new patches, just the classic DX7 patches that were used in the 80's--something like the ones in this list (assuming its accurate): http://www.synthmania.com/dx7.htm. I have a Native Instruments FM8, not a DX7. However (as the forum mod in the software forum helpfully reminded m...

Re: Yamaha DX7 - replacement keybed??

Thanks for your responses guys - food for thought.

If I were to sell the DX, do you think people would be put off if the keybed had been replaced with a new one? Or do you think i should just keep it all original?

Cheers

Yamaha DX7 - replacement keybed??

Hi chaps Have any of you tried installing a new vel/aft keybed in a dx7 MKII? I want to rip the old one out and replace it with a better feeling set of keys - but i still want/need vel/aft control. Can this be done? Other than finding a set of keys the right size...what would the main pitfall be? Ge...

Replacing key bed in DX7 MKII FD

Hi all I was just wondering, is it possible to buy (and fit) a brand new set of key for my DX7 MKIIFD - as the velocity response of the keyboard only reads upto 65 across the whole range - as the synths got older its become less and less sensitive. Im trying to figure out the best way to get around ...

Re: Roland SH201 killed me

I have an SH201. I don't like it at all. I use it only to create nasty sounds with the feedback oscillator. What makes this synth one of the worse ever: 1. The hardware: This is a Fisher Price toy. It look ugly. It's a cheap over sized empty plastic box. 2. The interface: This synth is sold as an e...

Re: Roland SH201 killed me

This is more of a rant than anything, but holy f**k a duck, Batman! I've always been of the opinion that any synth, whether RA or VA, simple or complex, inexpensive or costly, can be a useful tool in creating music. Well, I guess I have to admit that I was wrong. A bass player friend of mine recent...

I've tried every softsynth - the best one is...

impOSCar....

In terms of sound....this is the benchmark all other softies need to try and reach.

I'm suprised at how warm, full and musical it sounds - and the price is just amazing. Coming from a strictly hardware background....thats saying something.

What does everyone else think?
