Analogue synths are more "organic" than digitals, for the most part. But I get great sounds out of Motif ES8, as well as my ION. I don't believe that the ION is "better" one on one against my Prophet 5 for sound, but the ION can do some things the Prophet 5 cannot. So I use it for my LIVE gigs. Ulti...

I know this is and "old" thread, but I wasn't active on this site when it was a current thread. Where Korg screwed up on the Radias is the price it was launched at....1999.00 LIST 1599.00 MAP (or was that 1699?) WAY WAY too much money for a VA. That market is really saturated, and even though the Ra...

Slowahan: Thanks for your reply about the A6. Interesting that yours is from 2001 and you don't have any trouble with it. I listented to a number of demos of the A6 and to me, it sounded the most like my old Oberheims. I realize its a different synth, but some of the patches reminded me of my OBX. W...

slowahan: I agree than RA's are more "organic" than any VA. Most of them have a gutsier sound than VA's. VA's have greatly improved since they first came out. But then, so have RA's. :D Did Alesis ever release an updated version of the OS for the A6? I had read that there were a few quirks in the OS...

Quote by Bitexion: "Setup 00 should be stripped of all splits and zones. Hit the Recall Setup button and twirl your way back to 0". Chances are, the last owner changed that setup along with all the others. JP doesn't know how to strip the splits and zones as yet. I still suggest he reload the factor...

JP: What you are experiencing is one of the pitfalls of buying an instrument used. Don't despair, as CyrstalMSC said, you should restore the factory settings following the links he provided. You will need a MIDI interface to your PC, obviously. And as MPS said, work with the ION with the manual in f...

The thing about the ION is...it fills an important need. It does a great job of emulating many of the sounds most familiar to people in classic rock tunes. It was designed to be an analog sounding synth, with modern features, a great user interface, at a reasonable price. I think it does the job wel...

Felis: That's an interesting take on the NL2 compared to the ION. I have an ION and I think its very versatile. I figured that when players that owned the NL2 said it could cut through real well, its because its so clean, more digital sounding than the ION. That's not a knock on the NL2, I heard sou...

Quote by MrFrodo: It's pretty likely - but not confirmed here - that the Alesis R&D staff decided to stuff the ION with lots of features, including the presance of the Modulation Matrix. It's highly possible that they were focusing too much on stuffing the chasis and not enough on "functionality." O...

I wouldn't sell it right now.....

Prophet 5 Rev 2 is said to be the best sounding Prophet 5 ever made! I would get it cleaned and checked out. About your foam problem, its not just anvil cases that do that, its cases in general. I believe some dampness gets in them and they deteriorate. Foam needs to have air too. Some of the instru...
