Re: "Vintage" VA synths

yea I was just wanting to start a discussion too, but it just didnt translate over on this forum. I didnt expect to cause such an uproar on what I thought was an innocent discussion. Its not like I said Mac is better than PC or Analog is better than digital, that I did not say. I was just wanting to...

Re: "Vintage" VA synths

Nostalgia ain't what it used to be. ;) Things cycle quicker don't they, like it's all a spiral man, or maybe a double helix or something... I like the sound of the original Nord Mods (I guess the Lead sounds more or less the same), and it's obviously not analogue but does also now sound 'classic' i...

Re: "Vintage" VA synths

the waldrof blofield is getting me a bit curious as well, just not quite sure about its interface. id hate to use a computer to edit it. I guess what I have been trying to say was that VA's that arent exactly good at producing analog emulations seem to do things differently enough from analog that t...

Re: Vintage VA synths

this inst about whats better, i dont want a flame war regarding that nonsense. Its about using VA's for what they werent meant for, for their non analog nature. Just like not using a 303 for a bass guitar and 909 for realistic drums. I wasnt saying VA's are better than RA's. I own a dot com modular,...

Re: Vintage VA synths

Hey, alot of people thought analog was s**t in the 80s. Things come full circle you know.

Although nothing does drums better than a 909, I can say that for sure.

older first generation lineage VA synths ;)

I know that sound ironic but its something that has got me thinking. There is without any doubt that the first generation VA's have quite a different sound from the newer VA's or softsynths on the market. Owning a JP8000, and having owned a EA-1, ER-1, Micron (which is for sale btw), I can say while...

Re: Synth sellers will soon need to drop their prices.

there is one thing that I can definitely say, NOTHING is safe from this economic downturn. the ski industry, which I live next to the biggest resort in the nation, is laying off people, for multiple reasons and causes. Housing prices here are starting to come down, and this too was an overinflated a...

Re: My poor AX-60

im sorry to hear about your plight with the AX-60. I have owned once since 2004 as well, and I agree they are not a common synth by any means.

Im not sure if you could just get some 3rd market sliders of some kind. I wish I knew how to help.

Re: OMEGA 8 sound quality in comparison to others?

I think fx's are a HUGE part of the whole picture. Having a dot com modular, it sounded a bit bright to me at first, but then once i put it through a Chorus Echo 501, it was like the synth miraculously aged 30 years. It had THAT vintage sound. As a result I now plan to downsize my studio and now foc...

Re: Recession, what recession?

I had a ER1 once back in 2004. Sold it in favor of the EMX-1. At that point I just wanted decent drums. It definitely would have a place in my setup now. I dont think the EMX would come back as strong as the early electribe. The early ones had such quirky strange things about them that made them wha...

Re: Synth sellers will soon need to drop their prices.

its seems that even space echos have gone down quite a bit. I paid 699 for a RE501, which is half compared to what I have seen else where. Now where I did get raped, was my TR909. Spent 1695 on it. Its a great drum machine, but its not worth 1695 to me, more like 1000-1100. Id like an 808 to go down...
