Re: Gear Trading Thread

I'd be willing to trade my Jupiter-4 for a Prophet-6 (preferably the module) or even an OB-6. I'm not interested in shipping so it would be a San Francisco Bay Area trade only.

EDIT: Sold it.

Re: Reissues you'd like to see...

The OB-X was largely based on the SEM and of course the 4-Voice and 8-Voice were a bunch of SEMs kludged together.

Re: Reissues you'd like to see...

Yeah I'd love to think I could buy the JP-08 for $399 and get an authentic sounding Jupiter 8 reproduction, but from A/B demos I've seen, the Boutiques don't really cut it IMO. I did mess with the JP-08 at guitar center, and while it is a cool sounding synth module for the price, it's no Jupiter. T...

Re: do not know this synth NEED HELP! PLEASE

Lame attempt at being cute. Every thread with Colman has at least one post about cold digital stuff. I get that it's tongue in cheek (everyone knows it's juno 60 and poly 61, hence the joke), it's just getting a little annoying. I'm more concerned that he's lost his mind considering he does it in a...

Re: Roland Boutique

I had been on the fence about the Boutiques until today when I bought a JX-03. I was almost considering the JU-06 as I miss my old Juno-106 and don't want to spend almost a grand to get one again, but the JX-03 seemed pretty neat and I've never owned or tried a JX-3P so I decided to go for something...

Re: Yamaha Montage synthesizer --- with FM engine!

I spent 10 minutes with the Montage yesterday, very cold and digital sounding, plastic-y and fake like a soft synth. Doesn't have the 3D warmth and ballsiness and sheer rugged manliness of a Yahama CD-80. It's supposed to be nothing like a C S -80, if anything it's more like the spiritual successor...

It might be because of the UI; I think the reason why a lot of very capable synths like the JXs, Alpha Junos, and the ESQ-1 continue to sell for low prices is because of the really tedious interface they have.
