Re: Recapping a Jupiter-4

I used audio grade caps when I did the recap job a few years back so I figured I'd leave it as is. I don't see any problem with regular caps, so I went and created a project that uses general purpose caps, for those who don't want to shell out a bit more for the audio grade stuff: http://www.mouser....

Re: Recapping a Jupiter-4

Ordering from Mouser? If so, you know you could share shopping cart projects with others too. Its awesome I did actually, it was the only place where I could get audio grade caps for cheap. If anyone wants to do a group buy in the future I'd certainly be open to it. I've also pieced together a Mous...

Re: Replacing the ungodly plywood on my JX-3P.

Both the JX-8P and JX-10 are built the same way actually, they just have a plywood base painted black with some shielding tape on the inside.

Wanted: Various JX-10 parts

I'm planning on doing an overhaul on my JX-10 this spring, and as part of that overhaul I need a few parts. Here's a list of what I'm looking for: *End cheek screws (need all six, as I only have two holding the entire synth together and they're not even the correct ones) *At least three module board...

Re: Jupiter-4 restoration... thoughts?

So here I am almost four years later and I'm starting to think about continuing this project again. I still want to finish recapping the entire synth by doing the ensemble and key assign boards, and I also want to clean the keyboard as I have a D key that likes to retrigger every now and then. Anyon...

Re: What is the worst thing that you have ever done to a syn

I accidentally fried the 7815 in my Jupiter-4 when I was recalibrating it after a recap; I was trying to get a test probe on one of the voltage header pins on the PSU board when it slipped and shorted a couple of pins (making a nice big blue spark in the process!). Thankfully no other harm was done ...

Didn't Vince Clarke use a fleet of them at one point?

Re: New JX-10 Pros/cons/tips?

Just installed C.Frasiers chip in both my own JX and one for sale. Not tried them yet. BUT AFAIK, even then, you cannot edit the PATCHES via sysex. The TONES, yes but you have to do balance, split-points, chase-play, etc. by hand. You're right, I guess using an MKS-70 editor threw me off. Just look...

Re: New JX-10 Pros/cons/tips?

I seem to recall something about the JX-10 not responding well to parameter changes over Sysex, but I have never dabbled with that so perhaps someone else can clear that one up. There was a replacement EPROM available from Colin Fraser that fixed a few issues too. Again, something I have never trie...

Re: Using upgraded JX-10 with JX-8P editors?

Just tried it with my new JX-10 and it didn't work? Does anyone know of a free OS X or VST editor for the MKS-70 in that case?

Using upgraded JX-10 with JX-8P editors?

So I'll be trading my MG-1 for a JX-10 tomorrow and the nice thing about this JX (as opposed to the first one I had years ago) is that it has upgraded firmware so I can now edit patches over MIDI. What I want to know though is if an upgraded JX-10 will work with patch editors meant for the JX-8P, as...

Re: Using 100V Japanese-Made Synths in the U.S.

I don't see much of a problem either. I've got a few Japanese power supplies that I use with a few of my game systems and they work perfectly fine. They might generate a little bit of extra heat but as long as they're well-ventilated thee should be OK.

I don't know much about the Polymoog but I'm willing to bet it might be those ICs.
