Re: jp4?!

Someone needs to grab that ASAP! I'd really like to see what the differences are between this and the production models!

Jupiter-4 restoration... thoughts?

Ever since I recapped my Jupiter-4 a few weeks back, I've been thinking of doing more work on it in order to make it even more reliable than it already is. One thing that I'm thinking of doing is replacing all of the old CMOS logic chips and replacing them with socketed modern equivalents, as those ...

Re: Monos

If money's no object I'd probably go for the System 100 or MS-20 since those offer greater modulation possibilities than the rest. Personally I'd look at the Pro One as it's not too terribly expensive and sounds great. The build quality isn't as good as the rest of the synths on your list so keep th...

That's all I got out of it. I'd talk more but my MG-1 just came up to me with a new song and wants to go it over with the JP-4. They can't do all of the work I suppose. *shrugs*

Yep, my Jupiter-4, MG-1 and Monotron perform all my housework, pay my bills and cook all my meals for me. It's a pretty tidy arrangement and I wouldn't have it any other way!

You know, it would really help if you split up your post into paragraphs, I can't read any of it when it's all mashed up like that.

WTB: Jupiter-4 small knobs

Does anyone out there have the small knobs that are used on the Jupiter-4, Promars, SH-1 or SH-7? I need a couple for my Jupiter-4, the portamento knob has all the silver paint rubbed off and the tuning knob is missing entirely.

Re: Help: Roland SH101

What were the specs of the power supplies you used? The SH-101 is supposed to use a 9V tip negative power supply. I'm thinking maybe you used a power supply with the wrong polarity, which could cause the damage you described.

Re: SH101 tuning pot range

The tuning pot on the front panel is just meant to tune it flat or sharp, it's not supposed to go a full octave. If you want it to have a larger range you could try using a larger value pot.

Do you have the same problem?Or can you play the manual sound like a normal sound?
The 106 goes into manual mode when it's turned on so I think he's having the same problem regardless.

I suppose it doesn't matter now as I'm about to finish the deal for the MG-1 tomorrow!

Re: Thinking about trading my Juno 106

So how much would I get these days for my 106? It's in great working condition (I fixed a faulty voice chip a few years ago) and comes with the manual, so that might improve the value a bit. I'm thinking maybe I should just sell it and then put the money towards a monosynth. I haven't gotten any tra...

Re: Recapping a Jupiter-4

So to summarise: Get the service manual and do all diagnostics before doing any soldering. I actually had the service manual beside me through the entire process. Careful with the heat, go SLOW. Will do. Don't recap willy nilly. I don't think this was the problem, the reason why it had those proble...

Re: Recapping a Jupiter-4

Just finished installing the new 7815. I'm happy to say it's alive! Just needs a good calibration now, thanks to everyone for their help!

EDIT: Unfortunately I lost all my patches because the motherboard was disconnected from the battery for a while, but at least I'll have fun making new ones!
