Re: Nik Kershaw synths

I don't know for the particular "The Riddle" track, but Nik loved the Roland analogs a lot. Juno-60, JP-4 and JP-8 were many times used in his studio tracks and also live.
E.g. "Wouldn't It Be Good" was a lot of JP-8 as far as I remember.

Re: John Carpenter appreciation thread

Wow Micke this is a five star thread !! =D>

All nice clips, nice pics, nice equipment lists and so many info !!
I was surprised a little by e.g. the MOOG strings explanation used on Assaulton Precinct 13 and really enjoyed to read all these stuff.

You really deserve a statue here, Micke !!

Re: Keyboards and synthesizers in Progressive Rock

I love Emerson and Wakeman solo on the MOOG Minimoog. Also love Emerson with ELP on his modular MOOG and not to forget his Hammond B3 ("Tarkus" with a.o. its second part "Stones Of Years" is my favourite). I love the 70ies Yes albums very much too. My favourite is "Fragile" with "Heart Of The Sunris...

Re: Guess the synth!

Made me think of a CS-80 first, but seems to be a wrong answer. Also some ELKA Synthex aspects, but not clear enough.
Well let's guess a MOOG Memorymoog then.

Or is this a gag and did you place a VST demo here Micke ? #-o

Re: Elka Synthex "Laserharp" sound... How?

On other synths it's hard (read: impossible) to recreate exactly this sound. "Exactly" - probably. But "awfully close"? Sure! http://www.perkristian.net/Virus_KB_Audio.htm -> LaserHarp. Well I agree that comes pretty close indeed. I admit Per Kristian is a tweak genious - listen to all his recreati...

Re: Elka Synthex "Laserharp" sound... How?

If you own an Elka Synthex, look through the factory patches 3x-4x ; it's somewhere there. I *think* patch 42, but I'm not fully sure. On other synths it's hard (read: impossible) to recreate exactly this sound (maybe you can equal the lower sounds, or higher sounds, but not both; sorry... Unless wi...

Mid & High string sounds on "Blade Runner" score ?

Hi guys, Can somebody help me out about the question if the overall string sound on the Blade Runner soundtrack (especially the mid and high strings, the ones with aftertouch are clearly a CS-80...) are coming from a Yamaha CS-80 too - like the major part of the other Blade Runner sounds - or rather...

Re: Any thoughts on the Gmedia Virtual String Machine?

I re-installed the VSM twice and now it seems to work finally.
So ignore my "VSM with Vista" question from now...

Re: Pointer Sisters - Jump -what synth?

Are we talkin' about Van Halen's "Jump" now ? Van Halen used an OB-X for that particular song, with an OB-Xa for the live performances (see the videoclip of Van Halen's "Jump"). For the Pointer Sisters my guess would be Roland JP-8. Sounds pretty much like the brassy sounds coming out of my Jupiter-...

Hi Bitexion, sorry but mine has not been arrived yet (probably first week of October); maybe Heath can help you out if this is very urgent.
