analog poly synths with midi control
What analog poly synths pre year 2000, aka 'vintage', which are essentially knob-less(ouch), have the capacity to be comfortably programmed by midi, either CC's or sysex. By comfortably I mean in real time without delay. I have a kenton control freak that I'm not using for anything and they seem to ...

multi effects (rumour)
I'm looking for a sub $500 multi effects to handle mostly delays and reverbs. I plant to fill any gaps later with pedals or another more dedicated unit(s). I've read a few threads on here and elsewhere and I'm leaning towards a kurzweil rumor or mangler. I've tried a dp/4 but I found it a little cum...

esq-1 patch midi
I've been trying to copy patches from my esq-1 to PC for a few days now with no luck. Well some luck. IN midi ox I'm able to do a dump of what I think is the internal bank, but then I can't seem to load anything back into the esq-1 to check. I do this by sending the sysex file in midiox, and nothing...

Re: recording/clipping
It seems as if anything that touches 0 at all it distorts. And it sounds terrible. There seems to be very little 'headroom' if that's the correct term. Not sure why it peaks like that, it might be something in the signal I need to look into.

http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/2107/unledyg.jpg I'm trying to recording straight into pc from the outputs of a mixer and I realised I really don't have much experience with this. I've always recorded to tape, or mutitrack and never had any problems with levels. I'm recording live from two synth...

Re: xl-7 issue
The first thing I tried was a factory reset - or the equivalent in the xl-7. Same deal. I'm waiting for a cable to arrive to update from OS 1.0 to the newest operating system and I read somewhere that the earlier operating system issues with changing patterns. I'm hoping that's the answer.

xl-7 issue
I recently got an xl-7 and when changing patterns there is a noticeable lag. It happens when changing manually and when in a song. Just programing a simple kick or snare with no other information in the pattern, the first beat is just a late when it switches pattern. No idea what would cause this. A...

mixer questions
I just got a new mixer (tascam m-1600) and it has a few features I'm not familiar with. Any help enlightening me would be appreciated. It has sub inputs for each aux buss, also for the stereo outputs. I could see f you wanted to chain together to mixers the stereo sub input would be useful. What wou...

Re: Korg Monotribe ?
Could it be 16 steps though. You might be able to toggle to steps 9-16 somehow. Assuming you would need to toggle in this way to sequence the drum parts, it would make sense.space6oy wrote: far as not including midi & just an 8 step sequencer, yeah that sucks, but also yeah it's less expense.

Purity_Control, could you post the song in the OP again? The link is broken, and I think I might enjoy the song. Re: Changing ESQ-1 Battery
Yep, I'll pick a day when I'm organised to do it and have a steady hand. I thought about not bothering as I don't really need to save sequences and it only effects the 40 internal patches, but I seeing as I have the battery just sitting here, it would be strange not to. Good idea with the photos and...

Changing ESQ-1 Battery
Anyone have any experience changing the battery on the model where the battery is all squished next to the sequencer cartridge: http://redfaux.typepad.com/.a/6a00e55104273d88330128779f3d18970c-pi Same deal as here: http://redfaux.typepad.com/the_redfaux_transmission/2010/02/replacing-the-battery-in-...

Re: need a sequencer
Are the sound roms between the mp-7, xl-7 and px-7 drastically different? The mp-7 seems to be the most readily available/cheapest, followed by the xl-7 and px-7. I'm buying primarily for its sequencing capabilities, and would probably lean towards a more electronic sound. The XL-7 ships with the X-...
