You can get Moogerfoogers in rackmount format? I thought they were only available as pedals! That rocks! I'd love to have an oscilloscope, for a ton of different reasons. But they're expensive. The high-end ones seem to go for the price of a new house, which makes me really suspicious of the "cheape...

Well, like I said before something that relies on a keyboard wouldn't really work too well as it would be hard to play a keyboard on a bus. Furthermore laptops are not permitted on the premise where I work. I swore I'd never get a TB-303 but the more I listen to Analord as well as some other stuff, ...

I would suggest you give Psycle a shot, as that is what I use. It's got online, pictorial tutorials as well, and a very friendly message board where you can ask for help. Personally I have used it to compose entire songs, but like many people sometimes I'll use it just for percussion- as a tracker c...

Portable, Battery-Operated

Okay... so here's another one of those "what should I get?"-type threads which I loathe so much. I got a MiniDisc recorder and a suitcase... the only thing I need to go along with it is a battery operated synth that can fit in my suitcase or a small bag. You see, I have about 45 minute bus ride to a...

You can give Maschinengeist another gold star. He has been extremely considerate and helpful as well, and I'll certainly do business with him again.

Rackmount Gear

I've always disliked it when people posted "what should I get" type threads especially when they're doing it in the General Synthesizers section. Well, here I am doing it myself, but at least it's where it belongs- in the Help! section! *fist shaking* Anyway. It occurs to me I have a mostly empty ra...

The Roland D-50 is quite similar to the Roland MT-32 (or so I've heard), of which there are a couple software emultions of.

1) Munt (software)
2) MT-32 Emulator (software)
3) SoundWave 32 (hardware soundcard)

I've got Garritan Personal Orchestra. It's a b*tch getting convincing sounds with some of the instruments- but not with the strings. They're done quite well with that program. In fact... I think I'll go use it right now...

Thanks for posting the link. I think I'll pick one of those up after the new year. If you can wait until then I'll let you know how it goes- but if you get one before then I'd like to hear from you what you think of that unit!

Wait a second... are you talking about raising both the peaks and cutoff frequency for the high-pass and low-pass filters? I've noticed doing so can cause the volume to 'sound' quieter, but I say that's normal when you start to isolate only high frequencies like that. Can you be more specific about ...

Heh heh, yeah... wait- what? What an odd thing to say. I like your new avatar by the way, Maschinengeist.

I've never had problems with my MS20 when the patchbay isn't being used, and the volume level is perfectly fine. I'd be inclined to say Maschinengeist is probably on to something here, but you may want to have a synth technician take a look at instead of messing with it yourself (unless, of course, ...

Korg MS-20 Inputs

I'm having some problems with running external audio through the MS-20. I'm getting some pretty awesome results when running drum loops through it, but have found that it is far too easy to encounter clipping. I've followed the directions given by the manual, as quoted below: 8) Using the External S...
