Re: External Mixer

Without the buyers guide anymore, I think this goes in here now? Anyways.. What would be the best mixing board for myself? Here is a little picture of what I have currently.. http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b313/Hossinfeffa/Rig.jpg Right now I run my synths into the Boss recorder and into my comp...

for starters id walk away from spectrasonics atmosphere. its really uninspiring and unflexible. second, u sound like everyone else who has it. not what u wanna do if going into dark ambinet or whatever.. u want to add your singature to sounds. RMX can be useful, especially if mangled later by plugs...

Could I do dark, ambient music with this synth setup?

Hey guys. This is my potential setup that I want to do for dark ambient sounds, with industrial fused in, but it can change. I'm only interested in vintage analogs and plug-ins (don't ask), not interested in new stuff that can do sounds better such as the Virus. I like the Virus, but I won't buy it....

Wow, the lead on that Fusion by Menga sounds really nice (coming from a guy who's not the biggest fan of newer stuff [anything made past 1986 :P ])!

"i heard native instruments' pro52 and wasn't really blown away." my thoughts exactly. i own a pro-one that i love and the 2 are not at all representative of one another. the filter on my pro-one screams like a bat s**t crazy banshee. i don't get the comments on it being weak on bass. a filtered tr...

Sounds like the Fireface would be better suited for that, but it's 2 1/2 times more expensive than the Duet so that's not really surprising. The Fireface has 8 ins/8 outs, 6 of the ins can be used at line level which is what your mixer would be outputting. The Duet has 2 mic ins, 2 guitar ins, no l...

RME Fireface 400 or Apogee Duet?

Hey guys. I am officially sick of MOTU gear. My 896 left output just gave out, and it won't come back. I'm going to sell it and get another audio interface. I plan on using this interface with my iMac Core 2 Duo OSX 10.5 desktop. I am thinking of the RME Fireface 400 and the Apogee Duet (the Firefac...

I like the Lexicon PCM-70 a lot. Make sure that if you get one though, get ver. 2.0 or 2.2. The later versions lack some presets that sound really good.

If you have a working knowledge of subtractive synthesis you would be amazed at how fast you can get around the Source even without the knobbiness. Everything is laid out with with one button per function and the membrane panel (at least mine) works fine. The sound, the handful of functions it has ...

Dang, in the US, SH-101s typically go for $600 on eBay, but the SH-09s go for $400-$500.

Preset 2 on my Moog Source nails most of the Rush leads. It's a basic two sawtooth lead with a tiny bit of detuning. I'm actually quite surprised at how much of the MiniMoog mojo the Source captures for the price. You can still get them for less than $800. Yeah, I like the sound of the Source a LOT...

Tom Sawyer lead sound

Man, I've been really, really obsessed over the song Tom Sawyer by Rush, particularly the creamy lead made by the Minimoog. What other vintage analog synths do pretty faithful reproductions of the lead sound besides the Moog Source? How about the Moog Prodigy (I know it's a Moog, but how close does ...

I'm sure you could, you just can't get anywhere near detuned lead sounds, otherwise it's all there What does the detuned aspect do? It's that classic "phat" analog sound. By slightly detuning the oscillators from one another, you get something similar to a chorus effect. None of the oscillators are...
