This site is mostly boutique guitar pedals, but occasionally has good guitar stuff too. It's hosted by a good online store for hard-to-find pedal effects.

Tears for Fears writeup in Mix
The August '07 issue of Mix has a cool article about the recording of "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" from Songs from the Big Chair. They report that the basic track consisted of: Kick: Fairlight CMI Snare: Linndrum ("pitched up" from Shout, perhaps in Fairlight?) Hat and Shakers: Linndrum LM-2 ...

When I think Moog bass I think of 70s and 80s R&B. Michael Jackson (Off The Wall, Thriller), The System (Don't Disturb this Groove), Chaka Khan (I Feel for You, What 'Cha Gonna Do for Me), etc. Leads would be Yes, ELP and Jan Hammer in the 70s and early 80s. Leads have more variation than the bass s...

Im going opposite of the popular opinion....Take the money go on vacation...master the equipment that you have...Ya sure you dont have the moog lead sound, but you have an A6...thats a powerful synthesizer with a sound of its own! Well, I've been trying to get a Moog bass sound on my A6 for 6 years...

If it's the Voyager you want, keep saving. I've never been successful at buying synth B when I want synth A. I end up buying synth A later and selling synth B, usually at a loss. :( I'm an Andromeda user saving for a Voyager. I even considered the RME for a while, but decided it's the Voyager I real...

Hi Peake, great to see you here. I've missed hearing from you. I hope your out of the woods for now with your disease. Thanks for the behind-the-music tour on the A6. ...what you think of the Andromeda's reliability I've had mine since about 2001 with no problems. Well, I did have a loose connector ...

I have a Super Jupiter (Rev 5) and an Andromeda, and use them for different things. The Jupiter is always a bit retro-sounding, maybe because it doesn't have as many programming options to add in interesting subtleties. It always sounds 1986 to me, which is not good or bad just not as vesitle as the...

Cool, I thought I saw a dbx 160. Those are cool. I see them on film mixes all the time, sub bass synthesizer. Did anyone else catch the mistake in the notation? :) (Hint, compare bar 3 with bar 1.) Such a wild, cool bass line. You could post some of that stuff on Flickr, but I'm not sure about the c...
