Re: EMU 4000 Hard disk questions
Marco - do you have any kind of extra PSU for the SCSI HD? I've read that the ESI PSU is not strong enough to handle an internal HD. Hm, thats a real good question. To be honest, i never looked inside as i bought this unit as it was. Maybe i could ask the guy who sold me this unit. He is from germa...

Re: EMU 4000 Hard disk questions
I think you´re right. It was something like this that guy posted: http://www.cable-connector88.com/product.asp?proid=4326 But i dont think that it is that simple to make a PCI connection out of a SCSI connection. My feeling says, using such a plastic adapter would be way too easy. Especially if you ...

Re: EMU 4000 Hard disk questions
SCSI to PCI adapter is what you use to put a SCSI hard drive into a PCI computer. I know that  :geek: No, i meant another thing. A user reported 2 or 3 years ago, he had found an adapter which makes a PCI connection out of an existing SCSI connection. As said, dont know if its true, but that g...

Re: EMU 4000 Hard disk questions
On my research for Samplers with internal harddisks, i found a thread where a user mentioned a SCSI-to-PCI adapter. Dont know, if such a thing exists, but if, it could be another possibility to mount younger harddisks than the SCSI ones. My first PCs had SCSI drives, so i remember they were pretty l...

Re: TR 505 - No Closed Hats
Are you saying cheesy sound, or cheesy build quality? Speaking about the TR-505 you mean? I would say the sound is alittle bit cheesy (and LoFi), but thats okay. I am not talking about the build quality, because for example my unit was heavy used (even before i bought it), and it still works. Even ...

Re: USB 3.0 MIDI-Interfaces / Any Experiences?
That's crazy that they can't manage to get 0.5 MB/s through a 5GB/s connection. Even if you were to send full speed midi down all sixteen channels on all eight outputs you're only using one ten-thousandth of the bandwidth of USB 3.0. Yes, that was exactly the point i was thinking about. Like meatba...

Re: EMU 4000 Hard disk questions
I have had SCSI hard drives in my ESi2000 and 4000. From memory there is a size barrier of 8GB, and some people have mentioned a 4GB - perhaps depending on the OS firmware version of the sampler. Hey, Graham. On the ESI-4000, you also can use HDs up to 15 GB of storage space. I have an ESI-4000 mys...

Re: TR 505 - No Closed Hats
I just hate the TR-505 because it's c**p, not because it's cheap :) Actually the prices are starting to get silly. Goddam hipsters... Thats a point i agree with you totally! 100%! For example, have a look at eBay. Every, really every cheap c**p is sold there for astronomic and fantastic, partly cri...

For all kind of AKAI stuff (even the rare ones like FX008, MFC-42 and diskdrives for replacement), you should go to: http://www.mpchunter.com

Re: USB 3.0 MIDI-Interfaces / Any Experiences?
...but for MIDI it's overkill. Yep, i know this. Even USB 2.0 is a little bit of "Overkill" for MIDI. But how should the future concept for MIDI-Interfaces look like? Someday, they got to have contemporary connections. I think the manufacturers cant stay on USB 2.0/Firewire the next 10 years. Somet...

Re: TR 505 - No Closed Hats
What is this the fourth thread about the TR-505? WHY lord WHY? On the contrary, it is a hardware issue. How's your electronics know how? Get the service manual. This machine is a piece if c**p so it's perfect to learn electronics on. You could circuit bend it too. But thats not the point. Its a lit...

Re: USB 3.0 MIDI-Interfaces / Any Experiences?
Hey, i will try for sure when the new iMac arrived. And for sure, i will share my experiences here :) Speaking about promising protocols, i think USB 3.0 will be the one. I know, besides that there is also Thunderbolt, but this is primary an Apple thing, i dont think that Thunderbolt will break thro...

Re: USB 3.0 MIDI-Interfaces / Any Experiences?
Thanks for your answer, but i used Google before asking here in the community :geek: The MOTU FAQ was the first site i visited on my research, so i already know this "not complete true and annoying" statement by MOTU. What else should a manufacturer say about his products as "Oh yes, our gear is wor...
