Re: Brilliant Ensoniq ESQ1 / SQ80 site

Brilliant website. The explanation of the envelopes has me second-guessing if I really want to let my ESQ-1 go.

It's too bad this device was never mass-produced...

Re: Spot the scam

As far as I'm concerned anyone who doesn't think they should provide you with their location, not to mention a phone number, at the same time they mention they'll have to ship the item to you is probably running a scam of some sort -- especially if they posted an ad in a different city than their own.

Re: Bliptronic 5000 LED Synthesizer

It looks like there is a conversion kit to give the Bliptronic 5000 a lot of Monome functionality. Including the kit it looks as though it's still a lot less expensive than a Monome or a Tenori On.

Bliptronic 5000 LED Synthesizer

Has anyone here used the the Bliptronic 5000 LED Synthesizer , or know much about it? It looks pretty neat, and is pretty cheap... but sadly it doesn't look as though the onboard tones are editable (despite being generated by FM synthesis), and it doesn't look as though it can act as a controller wi...

Re: Albums made mainly with Softsynths

I like the fact that those who used analog synthesizers in the past honestly acknowledge that they use plug-ins, while the fans talk about this "sacrilege," which is ridiculous. Hard and softsynths can coexist very well. I think you'll find for the most part the only people who complain about softs...

Re: Examples of great electronic compostions in video games

I was never super into video games, but I definitely spent a large chunk of my life playing Megaman 2. The visuals of that game combined with the inventive characters, levels, and AWESOME catchy music makes it, in my opinion, one of the best video games every invented. All the compositions in Megam...

Re: Went to hardware

Honestly I don't know. I'd fire them an e-mail if you're genuinely interested and if it requires messing around with the inside ask them if it includes detailed instructions and how long it would take an experienced tech to fit, so as to gauge how much you'd spend on the installation. I suspect it's...

Re: Went to hardware

Don't be fooled by the majority of presets for the D-50! You can get regular "bread and butter" analogue-ish sounds out of it as well, especially if you refrain from using certain functions. It's a great machine that can fill a number of needs. There's an expansion card available for it as well.

Re: tip of 1/4" cable broke off & stuck...

Use a thin, magnetized drill-bit. Drill it in to the tip of the 1/4 cable just enough to get a grip on it, and combined with the magnetization it might be enough to pull out. Otherwise you should send the pedal to the manufacturer, as they can open the pedal and remove the bit without voiding your w...

Re: Sequentix Cirklon pre-order!

Has the Cirklon started shipping yet? I'm wondering if there is a final price available... Supposedly it has. A few people on the AH mailing list have mentioned seeing people with them at a recent synth meetup, and there's at least one video on YouTube that doesn't appear to be from Colin Fraser or...

An underrated soundtrack for an underrated game:

@ Neonlights84 : Thanks for the Castle Crashers reference. I had never heard any of that game's music before, and it's pretty good.

Re: Fantastic synthesists never mentioned on the VSE Pt.1

I hope no one minds that I've decided to resurrect this thread. I've been introduced to a lot of new music as a result of this thread, so I thought I'd add a contribution, who is a relatively new artist no less. I'm sure many of you have heard of Danger before, but I haven't seen his work mentioned ...

Re: Turning your JX-3P into a pseudo-Jupiter

Will this be available for a Roland MKS-30 too? I asked Murray, and he said: "I will be looking at making a kit for this once the 3P is finished." This is definitely good news for MKS-30 owners. Speaking of other synthesizers, Murray and I have briefly discussed possible modifications for the MKS-8...

Re: Turning your JX-3P into a pseudo-Jupiter

@ RichShan : I can vouch for PSICraft's support of the Patch Editor, especially as a means of providing a reasonable interface for other hardware that it otherwise wouldn't be an ideal editor for. I sold an MKS-50 to the man behind PSICraft not too long ago, in person, and we discussed among other t...

Re: Turning your JX-3P into a pseudo-Jupiter

@ Automatic Gainsay : If you're looking for a mono mode why don't you e-mail Murray and (politely) ask him if he'll implement it? I've talked a lot with him about the features I'd like to see in the JX-3P upgrade, and I'm happy to see a number of them will be implemented. Provided it isn't overly co...
