Re: VSE - Good trader/seller thread

I just completed a transaction with zackman_87, and it went well. He was quick and informative, and I'd certainly do business with him again.

Re: VSE - Good trader/seller thread

Shady Seller I was contacted by a Graham Morgan in response to a wanted ad I posted. I'm pretty sure hes trying to rip me off. He claimed to have a Roland SH 1000 that he would sell and ship to me for $200. I'm sure the shipping from the UK to Texas would cost $150 by my estimate. The synth is wort...

Re: volume control on modular patch cable

I'm not too sure how feasible a volume attenuator would be for a modular synth cable, especially since audio signals are often pretty quiet until they reach the final VCA (which I could see potentially damaging certain modules if you were to increase the gain far beyond what they're generally design...

Re: The Price of Software Synthesizers

But, still, why so expensive?! I believe the starting salary for a software engineer with specialized audio skills is around $60K + bonus options, and this salary is on the rise... nevermind the salary of a senior software engineer with specialized audio skills. Throw in the cost of paying for pres...

Just out of curiosity, what's the going price for those on the used market? I wouldn't mind picking one up in the future, if the prices are somewhat reasonable...

Re: Korg M01 for DS

@Mush: As usual, I've learned that skipping to the middle of videos leads to a lot of confusion. Thanks for getting me to go back and watch the video from beginning to end -- it was worth it ;) What do you guys think is next? A Korg WaveStation DS? Heh, I guess they're actually as surprised as anybo...

It seems as though Macbeth has released a number of products in low-production runs... I wish I had gotten a Macbeth M3 desktop module while he was still producing them...

Re: New Korg Analogs?

It seems likely to me Korg may consider selling a version of the Monotron that incorporates both a high-pass and a low-pass filter. While it may be pushing it, I would be interested in seeing some sort of MS-20 re-issue, or some sort of 8-voice poly incorporating an analogue low-pass and analogue hi...

This looks great, and a worthy follow-up to the Korg DS-10. Hopefuly the Kog M01 has another notation option aside from that ribbon-pad-like-thing however...

Re: Found a JX-3P at my Local Music Store... Thinking...

HA! s**t you guys, the switch was in the wrong position. I guess you can't write a pattern into the sequencer when the switch is turned to MIDI? Makes sense when you look at it as Roland's first MIDI synth... The JX-3P has pretty crummy MIDI implementation, but those two upgrades I previously refer...

Re: Modern Jupiter 8

I'd recommend the MKS-80. Unless you've got more money than you know what to do with you're probably better off at least starting with an MKS-80 and seeing where that leaves you. It really only sells for unreasonable prices on eBay, and you can still get them well-priced locally, through the Analogu...

You might also get good experience if you intern with a technical repair facility in the area.

Re: Modern Jupiter 8

The Alesis Andromeda looks like a beauty to me, but I can't speak about it personally. What I can say is the MKS-80 will not disappoint. It's a powerful polyphonic synthesizer, and you can certainly get a lot of use out of it.

Congrats! That's a great deal for a great synthesizer! If you're interested I have a PG-200 for sale for $250 CAD. I highly recommend you keep an eye on this upcoming upgrade for the JX-3P, and note the Organix' Toolshed JX-3P MIDI upgrade has gone back in to production.

Re: Found a JX-3P at my Local Music Store... Thinking...

I wrote a rather long bit about the JX-3P in comparison the Alpha Juno the other day here. I think it's worth a read because, well, I wrote it, but to summarize: get the JX-3P.
