How old is "Vintage"?

hmm... I thought vintage humans were known as ancient, so do we have ancient synths? Which me leads to... what is a vintage synth compared to an ancient synth?? I would guess a valve/tube synth is an ancient synth. Do we have a SteamPunk synth yet?

To me, "vintage" means :

- not availble "new" in stores : only can be find second hand.
- at least 10 years old (20 better) : that means "old fashion" sound, so it can be 10, 15 or 20 years.

It refers to an old style of music, or old sounds, made by machines from another time.

I say if it's old enough to drink alcohol legally in the united states it's vintage ;) some much better/well thought out posts here.. :) of course gear can't drink (maybe deoxit counts?) but i digress..
