I searched but couldn't find a thread, so here we go

An analog "boutique" synth. 499 dollars. Thank god for the minimal lightshow ;)

The SE-02 represents a collaborative effort by Roland and Studio Electronics, the company behind innovative synth modules such as the Omega 8, Boomstar, and Tonestar. The SE-02 is a 3-oscillator analog monosynth module with discrete analog circuitry that delivers massive vintage tone courtesy of three voltage-controlled oscillators, a voltage-controlled 24dB lowpass filter, and a dual-gainstage amplifier. The oscillators are temperature-stabilized with automatic tuning to keep them from drifting. To give you expressive hands-on control over this impressive firepower, the Roland SE-02 features a command center packed with high-grade knobs and switches, plus a fully featured 16-step sequencer.

Tiny knobs, but at least it's tastefully designed and not a horrible toy-like laser red or green lightshow...

It does look a nice analog package though, and if it sounds a little less Minimoog and a little more SE in character, that's a good thing imo...

I just wish they'd not stick to the MIni's ADS envelopes, and put a proper ADSR there - you can do the same stuff as the Mini with an ADSR, but also a lot more...

But it does look like a fun box.

For $500, that looks and sounds like a fun box!

Well color me intrigued. But seriously, Roland, give us some proper reissues already!

Listening to the sounds demo...man. In a lot of ways this sounds like a majorly beefed-up SH-09 - it's got that clean Roland filter sound, but not the too-sterile resonance of some of their later VCFs. Diggin' it.

When I saw the synth this morning I was like . . . Oh, a MidiMoog looking device from Roland, without knowledge of S.E.'s involvement. The last time I was in Tokyo, I counted 15 MidiMoogs that were for sales in shops. I'm not surprised by this synth. A beefed up SH-2 with a Moog layout.

I will have one of these. Already have a JP08 and TB03, and quite like the form factor of these little guys. I don't really count them among my full sized synths, but rather as really awesome sounding travel toys. This one has me waiting impatiently.
