It depends on what you want. I prefer the cleaner sound of the better engine. Some people like the dirt and grit and crunchiness of the original.

Another thing to note is that I find the second generation DX7 models actually look pretty nice in photos (g the example above), but don't look nearly as good in person. The buttons are ugly and cheap/plastic looking, the various lines and indentations tend to be dust and grime traps.

Oh yes, both are good - but it's just something to note when claiming that the DX7s is fully equivalent to the original with a nicer interface.
