Behringer about to release six (!) new synths

Post by Weirdofromouterspace » Wed Dec 13, 2017 3:56 pm

No hoax apparently, and no clickbait by me -

they are actually announcing the following clones (some of them in Eurorack format):

(1) Wasp Deluxe
(2) ARP 2600
(3) Octave Cat
(4) EMS Synthi VCS3
(5) Korg MS-20
(6) Roland SH-101 (BK, GY, BU => black, gray, blue)
Don't forget to TURN ON THE SYNTHESIZER. Often this is the reason why you get no sound out of it. - ARP 2600 manual, 1971

MS20? Why bother?
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

The Wasp, Cat and MS-20 are announced to be in Euro; the 2600 in 6U.

And there's more - 808, 909 and 999.

The products have been removed, this is an official post from Behrige, taken from from Gearslutz:

Dear Friends,

Many of you are already well aware, but it was brought to our attention that early this morning a rather unfortunate error occurred on the Behringe product page. This error mistakenly posted information for a number of different product design concepts from our product management repository which is contained and part of an automated backend system for our websites. The cause of the error was due to a website glitch and was completely unintentional. The moment we realized the error, we removed the content.

As we are owning the mistake, we also feel it’s necessary to inform the public about this error as a sign of good faith. It was not our intention to mislead customers in any way nor use this as a marketing tool. To be perfectly transparent, the leaked information does not imply any availability at this time or even definitive evidence that we intend to officially develop or deliver these products in the future. At this stage, the leaked products are merely concepts and nothing more.

To be honest we are embarrassed by this glitch and sincerely apologize to you who have been so supportive of our efforts over the years. We greatly appreciate your support and understanding of the situation.

They definitely did when I first posted this yesterday - including rather detailed descriptions (no pictures, however). And it definitely was on the official Behringer web site.

Some *cough* "accidental leak" to get people talking, I suppose. It worked. We have a 280+ post thread in the German synth forum "sequencer.de" right now (8:50 German time, that is ;) )

Edit: HalloweenJack posted while I was still typing :D.

Edit #2: Synthtopia was quick enough to save the information. The text bits appear to be original, as I recall them from yesterday:

What's happened is surreal and hilarious at the same time, or maybe a well devised marketing strategy before NAMM   :?:   :?:

They wrote about "glitch"!?!? What are they talking about?!?! I mean, I imagine someone of the web, or marketing, or products department that yesterday has smoked something really really good and decided to put online the accurate and commercial appealing descriptions of some "dream" synths as if they are future products of the Behringher synths line

I'd be into a Cat if it actually sounded the same. CEM2040, so good.

Well hope they are legit, I think they are since they posted a tease photo of an MS 101. Look forward to the ARP 2600 reissue and the MS 101 as the first ones on my buy list. Don't know why in the world they would clone the MS-20 if Korg has already cloned one themselves.

Some of those, including the MS20, were to be in Eurorack format.

Even then it seems odd as the MS20 uses S-triggers, and is hz/oct. It would be usable but a bit out of place in eurorack imo. I wonder if they plan on converting it to V-triggers and 1v/oct to make it more at home in a modular, that would certainly seem appropriate.

I'd take it all with a pinch of salt.

But meanwhile - Behringer have officially quoted the Euro/UK price of the Model D (available mid-January).

€349/£307 including VAT, so it's actually CHEAPER than the $299 which doesn't include tax - My pre-order is in :D
