modding the LFO of the Roland MC202?

Post by squatski » Tue Jul 31, 2018 12:49 pm

does anyone know if it's possible (and if so, how to do it) mod the LFO on the mc202 to make the rate go a lot faster? I want to see if I can get an FM tone out of it. not super fast, just fast enough to get a metallic tone. Safe modding though - obviously I care for its history and will put it back to normal once finished.

Just bypass R8. It will make the LFO about 15 times faster.
You can desolder the resistor and solder a jumper in place, or scrap the painted leg of the resistor and wrap the component with a piece of wire for a non-intrusive mod.
