Arturia Microfreak

Post by meatballfulton » Wed Apr 24, 2019 5:07 pm

Interesting mix of east and west coast styles. Polyphonic aftertouch (but see vids below for the caveats), 4-voice paraphonic, multiple synth engines, unusual sequencer...arp patterns can be copied into the sequencer, 4 lanes of motion sequencing, real time or step editing of sequences, 256 patch locations, 1/8" or USB for MIDI. Not shipping yet (preorders for $300 in USA at the usual places), but demos are popping up on youtube

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Edit: another video added

Don't forget to TURN ON THE SYNTHESIZER. Often this is the reason why you get no sound out of it. - ARP 2600 manual, 1971

I need to start a YouTube channel. I'm the only guy in the universe who doesn't get synths for free before they are in stores. :help:

BTW who do these guys use for interior decorators?

And here's the review by good ol' Nick:

Although all the individual building blocks are available elsewhere, I think the integration is the real draw of this machine. For ambient type stuff, combining poly AT with looping EGs, motion sequencing and 35 mod slots...well, just wow. =D>

This is the first synth since the DSI Evolver over 15 years ago that strikes me as excitingly different.

You can get these from some retailers for like $270 (e.g., Reverb, via best offer).

I was in the market for a very small CV/Gate controller--this has CV/Gate and pressure output, which is rad. I have never been a fan of trad aftertouch, but I do like pad pressure. Plus it comes with a pretty interesting sounding synth 8-)
Do you even post on vse bro?
