What is up with Oberheim

Post by SquareWave » Sat Apr 27, 2019 1:18 am

So, I recently did a search for some Oberheim gear and I cannot find new gear for sale anywhere on any online retailer... Not even the DSI OB6 stuff is available.

Anyone hear anything about this? Some sort of legal snafu going on?

:dontknow:

PS: Wow! It's been a long time since I've visited... :hippie:

Haven't had trouble locating the OB-6 keyboard, the desktops are a little scarcer. Haven't looked for anything else...

Musician's Friend currently has both OB-6 keyboard and module in stock.

I didn't do an extensive search, but did not find anyone selling the Tom Oberheim SEM. Tom's website only mentions the OB-6 synths and nothing about his SEM synths. I would assume he is no longer making them.

If you get the chance to buy any of his SEM synths, I would not hesitate.

Yeah, I've seen the OB-6 keyboard for sale, but not the desktop. I was thinking about getting a desktop, but maybe they are clearing stock and I should grab a keyboard while the getting is good... None of the classic SEM based stuff is available new that I can find...

I have a Two Voice. Had some issues with it from the get go, but not anything I can't get fixed...

Nothing compares to the Oberheim sound!

I purchased a B-stock OB6 module from Guitar Center a couple months ago. They still list both the keyboard and module versions as being in-stock.

Okay, now I am seeing the OB-6 stuff available, but not the classic SEM based stuff.

I had heared rumors Tom was looking to go Eurorack. Maybe that is what this is about...
