I would not necessarily call this a museum, this is a warehouse full of stuff in various states of disrepair.

Reminds me of similar warehouses in Tokyo and somewhere in the US.

Sights like these always make me feel a bit depressed, and some fellow who has apparently had too much of his Ritalin aenema even more so...

That's absurd! Why does it make you depressed PPG? I'd love to go there and play around someday. Switzerland isn't exactly nearby, but it certainly isn't too far from you! I like "lookmum", he's doing it right if you ask me, regardless of the stimulants.

The stuff had been hoarded (and neglected) for many years before it ended up in a warehouse, and the state many instruments are in is slightly doubtful. They seem to be too underfunded to keep everything in working shape, and their backlog must be enormous.

Yes, it does look nice but it is slightly too much to keep it maintained -- unless you have a bunch of technicians working on the instruments all night and day, that is. All collections of that size that I have seen looked impressive but only the minority of instruments was still playable, and the majority was dying away silently.

When you explain it that way, I can see what you mean. I think the fact that they have a rotating rental list is pretty cool though.

Whereas in a museum, none of it would be functional and we would not be allowed to use any of it. Is your glass half full or half empty?

Clearly SOME of it works, as shown in the video. One could spend the day with just the Synthex alone! Definitely worth a visit IMHO.

But ya, we can gripe LOL. Like, what's a Synclavier keyboard doing out on a shelf with no mainframe in sight?

WOW!
