Help finding keyboard/synths used on Disney album

Post by Hjacoby » Sat Oct 12, 2019 6:19 am

Hello synth enthusiasts
I am trying to find the synths used on this Little Mermaid spinoff album called Sebastian: Party Gras. This was made in 1991.

Synth spotting requests continue to get increasingly obscure...

What sounds are you interested in, and why do you want to know what was invovled?

Hello all,
I grew up listening to this album as a kid and want to know what synths they used. And yes Phillip, if you listen past the first song, there are synths I think.

It's really helpful when asking these types of things to link to the specific track, a time the sound starts, and identify the sounds you're interested in.

Expecting people to listen to an album's worth of material they may well dislike and chart out every instrument used is not realistic and is a bit of an ask, really.

I listened and besides some tonewheel organ, I don't hear any synth here.

All I hear is a D-50. Probably not just that though, also something really low end like an MT-32. Sounds like D-50, DX7, M1, and MT-32. Generic early 90’s synths. The accordion sounds like a cheap Casio. It basically sounds like cheap keyboards for all those sounds, so maybe a Roland E-20 and Technics SX-K700?
Korg, Casio, Alesis, and Yamaha (Minilogue, WK-7600, SK-1, CT-X3000, SR-16, MX49)
FL Studio 12, VSTs, MIDI keyboard
Non synths include string, woodwind, percussion, and toys for SFX.

sounds to me like a lot of GM sounds...
so are you wanting to recreate these tracks???
look at gm modules first...
if you are looking for recreation.... I would start with an integra7...
and you can select bit loss to get the old sound...
or use roland sc55 units!!
use a o scope and spectrum analyzer to pin down the wave forms...
what I see is 16 bit gear....

I have 6 of the I 7 units now... they are a real work horse!!
now that the prices are down to 1000 to 1500 usd depending on the deals..
they are worth every dime!!
I stack the sounds from 3 of them to get what I need...
and use 2 of them for percussion...
they work well with midi from pro tools and cake walk.
