I'm making some analogue modular synth modules for my dissertation at university. It is going to be rather basic consisting of 2 oscillators, an LFO, filter, VCA and EG. It will be based mainly around the digisound 80 series as well as some bits I have seen on yusynth etc.
However I'm struggling a bit with keyboard control. Will I need to create modules in order to accommodate cv and gate output from a keyboard? And if so does anyone know of any affordable keyboards that have such outputs.
Any other help anyone has would be much appreciated.

Re: DIY Modular Synth help
All modular synths have CV and Gate Inputs so that they can be controlled by keyboard or sequencer.
The Oscillator frequency is controlled by CV and the amplifier or envelope is controlled by gate.
Here is an interesting keyboard with CV and gate outputs, the arturia keystep pro :

Re: DIY Modular Synth help
The above mentioned Keystep Pro isn't even available yet. It is announced for March 20

However, there are the Keystep (without "Pro") and Beatstep Pro controllers (also by Arturia), both of which are very common among modular synth users. Keystep prices are about a third of the announced Keystep Pro price, and Beatstep Pro (or BSP for short) about half the price or a bit more.

I have two Keysteps and BSPs each, and can really recommend them.

Don't forget to TURN ON THE SYNTHESIZER. Often this is the reason why you get no sound out of it. - ARP 2600 manual, 1971
