Hey friends
Love this track by Sin Falta aka Joy Orbison. Would love an ID for the synth at the start and throughout.
Thought is was the Syncussion SY0.5 eurorack, but don't think so. Also sounds similar to a Pearl Syncussion (or clone).
But I have a Syncussion SY-1m and have spent hours working with it and it's not quite right.
Any thoughts.... I really love those tones and would love to know how they're made or from what synth?
What do you think?

Could be any of them. They all pretty much sound the same. There's obviously going to be minor differences between each model, especially 4 operator versus 6 operator models.
I'm no expert in FM synths, but the sound in question seems basic enough for a 4 op FM synth.

The metallic hit does sound like FM to me, too. It's not as "clangy" as analog ring modulation.
The bass note after it could be just about anything.

The FM clangy sound modulates throughout the track which make my think it's an FM synth with some sort of sliders, knobs etc. I could imagine something like Volca Drums, but the track came our before that synth was released.
I guess it could just be modulated with a frequency shifter, but doesn't sound quite like it to me?
What FM synth would create such a percussive clangy sound and be relatively easy to effect / modulate?

Could be simple FM on an analogue synth.
Just look up how to do FM! This is a sound you'd get very quickly.

I have a JV2080, Volca FM and a yamaha tg33.
Think any of these can handle the sound?
If once I get the sound the synth can modulate it in the same way it modulates throughout the track?
Maybe something like the DX200 (as there is a patch base editor for it on mac now) could handle the sound and the modulation?

As you can tell from my initial question and my comments i'm not exactly "experienced" so yeah... seriously.

Quite the opposite. It's an FM synth, so go for it. As Z already pointed out, FM synths are all pretty much the same. I just googled "korg volca fm synthesis tutorial" and came up with a few that look good. I'd suggest Mark Doty's one.
