Greetings everyone -
My 'new' (to me) Yamaha DX7 II D has a major problem; they keys don't trigger any sounds. However, if I use an external keyboard and run midi into the DX7, it performs as it should.
Overall condition is a 9.5; almost mint. The display is bright. The display is not garbled.
So, based on what I've googled, it does not appear to be a battery issue.
Any thoughts? I got this from a friend, it was in a storage locker, unplayed, for at least a decade. It used to work fine (back in the 90s) but now, as I said, the keys don't work.
Given that NONE of the keys work, I doubt it's a contact membrane issue.
Any thoughts? What should I do?
thanks - Richard

There's a setting called Local On/Off. If it is set to off then the keyboard would not trigger any notes.
It could be as simple as that.

Yep, Local off is the first thing to check.

Guys, thanks for the 'local off' suggestion.
Indeed, that was the problem. The synth is now fully functional.
thank you!

Great! It has a great keyboard action, probably my favourite synth action keyboard...
