well i thought the hating instuments thread was a little negative, so what sounds, instrumental or synth or otherwise, do you love most in the world? for me, it's:

- snares that go "pannnnng"
- the cutting aria pro 2 pickups on my guitar through a cranked up peavey bandit!
- anything fm that comes out of the sega megadrive, sonic 1 - greenhill zone!
- big evolving digital pads
- viola solos and string sections
- trombone
- anything played by rick wright
- crazy fecking atari 2600/sid/nes sounds
- the humble triangle waveform :)

I like some of those heavily filtered and modulated basslines that sound like growling or talking. You hear them sometimes in DubStep and certain styles of Drum n Bass. I'm jealous cause I can't make them on my synth.

I also like sounds that are rich in overtones so that they almost sound like chords.

- Eminent 310 string ensemble played through a smallstone phaser
- Most things that come out of a Fender Rhodes
- Acoustic guitars
- Vangelis brasslead from his CS80
- Most things that come out of a Mellotron
- Korg MS20:s basses, leads and effects
- The quijada sound from Korg Minipops 7
- Bongos, hihats and the toms from EKO Computerhytm
- Philips Philicorda organ
- The bass sequence from Kraftwerks The Robots (Minimoog I guess?)
- A good bassplayer playing some licks on a fretless bass!
- Sitar (wich often has to involve a good player)
- guitars played backwards

...damn I have many favourite sounds! :D

fender rhodes, Virtual Analog leads utilizing FM, distorted bass (synth or electric...), and thin shimmery digital strings.

Stereo self oscillating filters, a la the Evolver. Especially with an inverted envelope.
