What is your live set up?

Efficacy surely is the first criteria. Just curious. Tony Banks used an Arp pro-soloist, one of
the first presets synths. Keith Emerson still use a Moog modular on stage. What about you?

That's pretty much it. Just add an iPod in there, an A-Station velcroed to the bottom of the upper tier of keyboards (it's so light and narrow that it works perfect) and erase the laptop and that's pretty much it. When I tour in March I'll be taking the upper tier of stuff (leaving the HS-60 & Bitrman at home) and the TV tray for the mixer/Echo Park/Ineko.

Haven't played live as JSRockit...but if I did, I'd use a Roland SP-404 and a Microphone. I have played drums live and noise objects live...and that was in a very friendly environment.

we are a two piece band and use:
ibook g4
ableton live
motu 828
akai mpc 2000xl
elektron machinedrum-uw
elektron monomachine
nord modular
line6 echo pro
tc electronics voiceworks
gibson echoplex
fender strat
lin6 amp
mackie 1604
and our balls

we have been playing out quite a bit recently and have been getting really positve responses. we have also paired up with a local artist and have begun adding our own video footage to the shows as well, which has been pretty stressful. i much prefer to edit audio than video. but combining our efforts together has def drawn more people out.

Right now, we're currently a four piece band live:
myself playing guitar and performing vocals
bass player
another guitar player
a female vocalist

all the synths, videos and light sequencing are run off of the laptop.

We rarely bring synths on stage. Primarily due to me not being able to play guitars, sing and and play keyboards at once. Before another keyboard player though.. I need a new drummer....

I do my duty as the keyboard player of a danish Genesis tribute band. My keys are:

Ensoniq TS-12
Hammond L-100
Korg 05R/W module
On special occasions also: Mellotron M400

+ an ancient Compaq laptop running Win95 to organize the patches.

The DX-7 does a convincing job of emulating the Arp Pro-Soloist and the electric pianos of Tony Banks early setup. The L-100 is THE early Tony Banks organ. The TS-12 is for piano action, and for controlling the 05R/W. I actually don't even use the TS-12s internal sounds.

I have a home fx rig and a live (read "cheaper") fx rig.
I don't use an amp and I only take what will fit easily in my pedal board.
Commonly including a delay, a phaser, a fuzz, a filter, a tuner and a cheap keyboard(oh and an analogue Amp Sim/DI).
Basically I had enough of carrying 2 set of keys, 2 guitars, pedals, an amp and a banjo.
This kit reduces setup time to about 5 minutes tops.

Fortunately it actually sounds good too.
Which is the only reason I now do it this way ;)

Nord Electro 2 (organ and electric piano)
Akai S2000 (mellotron, toy piano, combo organ samples)
RS-09 (strings) + Moog Filter and CV processor

sometimes I bring along a synth, but not too often (a crowd cant tell the difference between a RS09 through a good filter and legit monosynth anyhow.)

all of this goes through a Akai Headrush 2 and an Electro Harmonix Holy Grail

The current project is translating the CD of a Japanese-American electro lounge vocalist from a five-piece band recording into a MIDI-ed synth and groovebox duo with said vocalist.

My own:

CASIO MT-70 / ROLAND Micro Cube

These are plugged into a BEHRINGER Xenyx 802 submixer and routed into a Mackie 16 channel mixer and house PA.

My partner's:

KORG Kaoss Pad 2
KORG microX
MACBook and EDIROL 4-octave keyboard controller running Reason 3.0 and MOTU Digital Performer 5.1.1

These are plugged into a MOTU UltraLite FireWire Audio Interface and routed into a Mackie 16 channel mixer and house PA.

So, borrowing a concept from Neil Peart of RUSH: "I am the Analogue Kid and my partner is the Digital Man."

BEHRINGER Xenyx 802; CASIO Casiotone MT-70; KORG Electribe EA-1mkII, microKORG, mini-KP; QUIKLOK T20 T-REX Series X;

Wanted: BOSS DR-110; CASIO CZ-101; YAMAHA CS-01, DX-100
