Just got it a day or two ago...a Korg KPR (Korg Programmable Rhythm) 77 analog drum machine. Very vintage, very cool. 8)djfetus wrote:im starting to GAS over drum machines agian, so to kick it up a notch, for my intrest,
what do you use for drums?
i would consider myself a descent drummer, but the concept of replacing me with a machine is pretty cool, and fits the industrial genre better
your drum machine

I use an Xbase09 and a ER1mkII and sometimes the Nord and sometimes the PEK and sometimes the kits that are in Live 6. Always wanted a drum set when I was younger but my dad insisted on keyboards...oh well, I have the best of both worlds now kinda. Whats cool about the Xbase is you can "play" the thing. s**t, the new 999 thing would be titties! I think my favorite piece is the Xbase though...I love that thing and now i'm considering going down the MPC road.

sharing duties between the ESX (smooth drums) & EMX (ugly drums). very flexible with two units.
would love a jomox 999 though but may just break down and get a an 09 to hold me in the meantime.
Not real enthusiastic for the Elektron sound except for robotics. Love to have a brand-new tr808 but I can dream....

For many years, it was a Korg DDD1. Then I switched to samplers. Then I switched to external sequencers triggering my analogue gear. And, now, I will be switching to, uh, me--Roland TD65W. There's just something to be said for slightly imperfect timing. And, if I seek robotic precision, then I will fall back on a sequencer and analogue synths.
Cheers.

I use a Roland D2 as extended drummachine, or I build custom kits in Live with samples.
I really prefer hardware programming.
I'm also looking for a new drummachine, more easy to program, with a grid like the boss series or TR-style.
I have an opportunity for a TR707 but I dont find it very suitable for the reggae/dub/funk style i make. I use mostly real-sounding drums and percs.
I wish somebody make a TR beatbox with deep realistic samples.

I use a Roland TR-626 and Siel MDP-40 (controlled by the 626) as my main hardware machines. I also use alot of casio beats, and sometimes "play drums" via my Yamaha DD-5 and synsonics drums. I also like to do simple or multitracked stuff with my Gamboy Camera. I have prophet 64 too with it's own drum machines but I haven't got very into that application yet. I want to get some midi sync gear for it first. I've been trying to get into reason for my drums because it's easier and it's more flexible, but I have trouble getting the tracks into my recording software from reason.
so what do I put down here now?

I get most of my drums from mc505 but use the sp404 for some things (more noisy based) and i've just got a micron which i'm liking the drums on, so will prob be using a bunch of that as well. Its all gonna be sequenced by the 505 though
