Hi, new member here,
Pretty much noob when it comes to synths and drum machines. Bought my first drum machine 2 weeks ago - TR-606 to match my SH-101 I found at my parents place still in its original box (after not seeing it for around 17 yrs).

I dont have any drum-machines of my own right now, so I use samples of DR-55, cr-78, tr606, tr707, tr808, tr,909,my synths or real drums.

But some of my friends lends me machines from time to time, the above mentioned. And when I dont have any, I prefer samples that I made myself.

To: i_watch_stars, Real stuff is so much more fun to work with. The sounds interacts and soe. And it looks great live.

I use a Casiotone MT-40 and a Alesis Micron. Does anyone know if the MT-40 has analog ocsilators? can't find much info about it.

The MT-Double-Digit models like the MT-40, and my own MT-70, use analog synthesis not unlike the BOSS DR-110 Dr. Rhythm Graphic. The sound is tinny, but not tinker-toyish, and the tones are very musical and useful when chorus, flange, phase, reverb, or delay is added.

Great Gear: gorgeous in its simplicity, stylish in its assemblage, and sweet vintage to the ears.

obvious, but

mc307, mc505, an200 & dx200

i don't like to sample drums, they seem too restricting in that way. better for playing live when using pattern based loops, for my preference anyway.

Since I'm first and foremost a drummer, I prefer drum machines that don't sound or behave like real drums. My choice goes to the CR-78.
Alesis QS8, Ensoniq Fizmo, Oberheim OB-12, E-MU Vintage Keys Plus, Rhodes 73 Stage, Wurlitzer 145 Tube, Wurlitzer 206A, Hammond M-3, SCI Pro-One, Arp Explorer I, Moog Opus 3, Korg Poly 800, Roland CR-78.

I use a Boss DR-770. I'd like to get a Roland TD-20 eventually.

Well, I use a Roland MC-09 for TR style quick drums, for more elaborate stuff I use the Yamaha RM1X, the Alesis AirSynth has really blimpy drums, and for just banging around like a simple chimp, I use the venerable Yamaha DD-5, it's fun.

A MPC1000 and a Roland SP-404 are my drum machines currently.
