That brings back a few memories. Was trying to remember who I'd seen live with a 60 and it was them. Great clip.

Here's "Animation" from the same performance

It looks like they had a tape running for the bass sequences, and the drummer was playing to the tempo while the spaced out stabs and screeches are played on the Juno60 live.

The clips are from The Tube. So yeah - pretty much all live as you say.

Reckon Richard H's leopard print shirt could have got him a job behind the bar in the Rovers without a doubt!

The pads I would assume? I thought the lead sounded very moogy (or at least was some other mono due to portamento)

Oh that's cool. I never knew that. I always figured it was something that had MIDI since it's a pretty complex pattern. Also I can't confirm this, but the pwm'ish pad in "Exile" on the same album is a dead on Juno-60 sound.

-Also there's a very nostalgic aura about that album I can't describe. To me, It's good music for looking through old photos or something.

Although it clearly isn't electronica  Eddy Grant's keyboard player had a Juno as part of his rig at Glastonbury and pretty much used it on every other song. Including all the "hits"!

Solderman,

Philip Field was the main keyboardist for Mtume from 83 til around 86. I'm not entirely clear on what other keyboards were in the Mtume rig other than Minimoog (for the short solo on that track), but PF often used a Crumar Performer for the string sounds on some Mtume tracks, as well as with the band Aurra.
In the video for "Juicy Fruit", there are two keyboardists.

Phil is the one facing the audience, and I don't know who is the other keyboardist. There were several other
players that provided additional keys on the album, including Bernie Worrell and Barry Eastmond.

Regards,

Lawrence

Nope, nope, nope. "Borderline" was Minimoog bass, Fender Rhodes and Prophet 5 lead, arpeggio and brass sounds.

One iconic '80s female artist, though that DID use Juno-60 all over her album was Cyndi Lauper; Pretty much 90% of the synths on the She's So Unusual album was Juno-60.

I had posted a thread several months ago on this, and the general consensus was that this was a Minimoog.

Was this song on her debut album? I believe it was....and I understand that the JX3P was used on that album pretty extensively for songs like "Burning Up", etc. Not sure about the 60, though.
