Nah. They're like $200+ over here, but good call otherwise.ThinkTanx wrote: For cheap, why not just get an Electribe ER-1 or the like? I think you can get them for less than $100 these days. I don't know how TR-like the sequencer has to be, but I have used an ER-1 to sequence Impulse before and it was pretty fun.
I'm thinking about saving up for an Elektron Machinedrum

Wow. Really? An MK1 model? What if you bought a used one off eBay from America? Still cost that much once you got it to Ireland with exchange rates and all?jimi_t wrote:Nah. Most ebay.com auctions and similar won't ship out of the US for a start. Then you have to include shipping (40$ odd) and customs. It's a pity, I know. You can't even get NOS or blowouts from online stores because they're illegal to sell in most of Europe due to that lead solder law brought in about a year ago.

Yeah, see I've been gassing over the TR-707 for ages; it looks like a competent enough standalone if I ran it through a few effects, and it seems like it would make a great step sequencer (just for drums obviously). Only problem is, again, the price. Cheapest one I've seen recently was $335.JSRockit wrote:Would an older TR machine work... like a 707, 626, or 505?

And I frequently see them @ $400+. Like, whats the going rate over in the states? Is there anything new and cheaper that has the TR-909 or 707 style step-sequencing ? I'm at a bit of a loss here, I'm currently just drawing them in on the piano roll which ain't much fun.

Yeah, I can't think of anything else.JSRockit wrote:The cheapest thing around here is the Electribes... at least that I can think of.
Sounds like you might just have to splash out for one (never thought I would use the phrase 'splash out' in reference to an Electribe). You can do good things with Electribes on their own if you work with them. I have myself, and I've seen people more talented than me get some really amazing stuff out of them. So if you shop right, and get one that you think could be useful in sound creation, then you wouldn't be spending your money on simply a step sequencer for Impulse.
707s were around $125-$150 here last time I checked. I know where there's one in a local shop for $100. Since I've got 707 samples, and I can manipulate them more in my ESX than the 707 even allows for, I figured that it wasn't worth the trouble of picking up.jimi_t wrote: And I frequently see them @ $400+. A used ER-1 or ES-1 would be a good atlernative for sequencing.
---Just checked eBay, and they seem to be going closer to $200+ now.---

Did you just completely miss the rest of the discussion? He is in Ireland. Bit of a different proposition.m03 wrote:707s were around $125-$150 here last time I checked. No, but apparently you did. He asked "whats the going rate over in the states".ThinkTanx wrote:Did you just completely miss the rest of the discussion? He is in Ireland. My bad man. I misunderstood which drum machine you were referring to.m03 wrote:No, but apparently you did. A used MPC would be killer too, if that is your thing. But it is definitely a different proposition to a step sequencer. Cheers, though. Good luck with the piano roll.jimi_t wrote:Cheers for the help guys, I'd say I'll just suck it up and get quicker at using the piano roll... I'd rather justify spending that kind of cash on a used MPC than on either of those two drum machines based on pure utility.

Huh? Pure utility? It is the most unique drum machine on the market. That said, I can't live without an MPC either.jimi_t wrote:Cheers for the help guys, I'd say I'll just suck it up and get quicker at using the piano roll... Oops... your the 707 guy and ER-1 guy... I thought I was responding to the thread starter. Well, I'm going for the MD.JSRockit wrote:Huh? Pure utility?
