congrats for the power toy :) it will add unique color to the already nice set up. I always love the SQ-80 looks, those are nice engines, specially for the price. happy playing!

Congrats on picking up a nice synth! :)

Also, a little reverb adds a lot to the ESQs IMO. I use an Alesis Ineko with my ESQ-M

Congratulations!

Listening to my own old tracks always make me miss having one around. It is one h**l of synth for coffee money...

Hope you'll enjoy it and don't ever sell it!

Cheers!

Cool man,

Yup, it's a fun synth, I have the SQ-80 model.
You can find a gazillion free sounds online for it,
there's a company out of south Texas that offers some excellent patches as well:

http://www.syntaur.com/esq.html

I own every patch they make and the programming is superb.

The ESQ/SQ series are great starter synths IMO. Good choice!

If you get tired of editing the m from the front panel, you can use SoundDiver if you can find a copy of that old software. I never could get it to work in MIDIQuest, though supposedly it does work.

And if you haven't already, have a look at the ESQseMe Yahoo! group. Some good resources there.

Syntaur is actually located in my town, New Braunfels, TX. I nearly flipped out of my chair when I found this out!

I love my SQ-80, by the way.

Definitely a pain in the a*s to program from the front panel. But what a nice sound.
Congratulations!

I found that the best editor is the Sq80 VST that you can find at butchy rainer. It looks like an SQ80, it's easier and you can dump the sysex you make with it.

Just make sure you use the same waves than the ESQm.
If you don't know what you are doing, why are you doing it?

So, you were the first one to spot my ressurrection the thread... I loved OJ's reply though - as he is just proving himself a dumbass by answering that way considering the gearlist of the initial poster...

Cheers!

Sure - although with the assumption that the majority of VSE members don't resurrect threads for no discernible reason. You would expect most have better, more productive things to do? However given your former Off Topic musings, this is hardly surprising really. Guess there's a few potential "dumb asses" in this thread, given your ahem..logic at least.

And hey, they both still rock so that hasn't changed.

 He's talking about you congratulating the dude with the Ti, A6, MEK etc on getting a great first synth. But it's even funnier that you still haven't realised.

Well I have now.

But this doesn't mean it's not still a great starter synth! An ESQ-1 happened to be my first and look at what happened to my gear list...

And despite this it still remains, as does his going by that list...I'm noticing a pattern here. :-k

I keep coming back to this thread... OJ, you're really something! Despite all that passive-aggressive s**t you always pull, you always make me giggle!
