MKS-7 Super Quartet

Essentially a Juno 106 with drum sounds from a TR-707 thrown in. From the front panel, presets only but can be edited using MIDI sysex.

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

MKS-7 has DCO, not VCO's. All other MKS modules can be edited except for the piano based one (MKS-20 I think). But you don't have to edit them, you can use any programmable synth as a preset synth if you want to.

MKS10 is an analogue piano module.MKS-20 is a digital piano module. No editing on the 10. The 20 has a cartridge port , so maybe there's some editing;probably not much. The MKS-100 is a low end sampler. Basically an S-10 in a box.All the others are analogue synth modules.(7,30,50,70,80 )

By the way:7,50,70 are DCO. Don't know for sure about the 30 (Planet S) but I think that it too is DCO being a JX-3p in a box. The only VCO MKS is the 80 AFAIK.

Arp Pro Soloist is preset only.
As always, kindly allow for the possibility I have no idea what I'm talking about.

If you MIDIed the MKS-7 to a Juno 106 you could program it from the Juno's controls. But it forgets all the user patches when you turn it off!

I don't think very many were made...easy to see why :?

Roland MKS-7 can be programmed. You can put it into the 'engineer' mode (I think that's what it's called) and then you can select parameter numbers and edit them with the velocity sensitivity slider. It's not all that hard really, once you've memorised the parameter numbers.

MKS-7 is easily editable with SoundDiver.
See my site for what it can do.

Roland EM-101 seems to be the preset version of MKS-7. Also the filter processes all the voices like KORG POLY-800.
