Oooh... Wicked demos!! :D

The first soundbytes I heard from the Blofeld didn't impress me beyond what my uQ can do. But this made me start considering a change from yellow to white... *damn*

Yes, awesome demoes! These, alongside those from Waldorf, have me totally convinced. I'm getting one! :D

Only thing I would like to see more, is a demonstration of its capabilities to make long, evolving pads.

anyone in North America have any updates/news re delivery of their U-know-what? Im about to take the plunge and my store said preorders would be filled in "2-4 weeks." Great incentive to get taxes done.

figured to bump an existing thread than start a new one on the lines of "The Frustrations of Blofeld Mutual Admiration Society."

Waldorf's North American distributor...

http://www.mvproaudio.com/

says they are shipping Blofelds right now but that's got to be bullshit..... maybe in Europe but not here. Meanwhile it's been three months since I placed my order for the Q+ and still nothing. I couldn't get any kind of straight answer from Waldorf, and MV ProAudio tells me 2 more months till I get mine.

I hope it's well worth the 5 month wait.
Don't be afraid, ever... cause this is just a ride.

I hope with over 1000 presets, they will put more drum maps, decent patterns/sequncer and hopefully a better (XT class) filter.

Waldorf (actually their North American distributor) had a small booth in the basement hall E at the NAMM show this past weekend. they did have a few Blofelds powered up and running. there was only one that was wired up to headphones and a keyboard (a Q+).

the guy there said they just shipped out the first twelve units to dealers across the U.S. (one each - Sweetwater was one of them, West L.A. Music wasn't). the next shipment will be in two or three weeks. the price is $799.

the other new Waldorf products are still supposed to be out later this year.

i only tried the Blofeld for a few minutes. from the presets that i dialed up, it sounded good but nothing that jumped out at me as spectacularly amazingly new and different. i think it's size, form factor and price will be its main selling points.

i do have to add though that i was really put off by the distributor who asked me not to take a photo of the poster that they had up for the Blofeld. i couldn't believe it. when i asked why, he said the poster contained information that they didn't want someone to come along and rip off by putting the features described into their own products. it was totally ridiculous but he stood his ground even after i challenged him on it repeatedly. eventually, he let me take a distant photo of their poster.

sorry for pimping my blog but i'll be writing up my NAMM reports at http://subliminaleffections.blogspot.com over the next few days. you'll be able to see my photo of the offending poster (and many more) there as i get them posted.

4 dealers in the US got the first 12 units...that's it. I was told 2-4 weeks for the next shipment about 2 weeks ago.

All i see on that site is that the unit is shipping - but doesn't say anything about how slowly they are going out, or whether they are currently in stock. I heard that it's just very slow at first, but the next batch will be coming along. I also have a Q+ on order, and I heard (not totally solid, but beyond just rumor) that I might have it relatively soon. Good luck with yours.

http://www.futuremusic.co.uk/

Future music magazine here in the UK has just done an artical on the blofeld and has raved about it and gave it top marks! unfortunately they have not updated the site to the new issue.

They have a CDrom attached with samples of the blofeld...... they are not amazing.... maybe presets? although they do sound great! just uninspiring!

I think this beast will show its true self when you have gotten to know it a little, judging by the routing capabiilities its going to be possible to get some messed up sounds....

I have one on order and am getting impatient but equally excited as I'd rather wait a bit longer than get a buggy monster.

Shipping to uk 30/1/08 apparently!

Musicians Friend has the Blofeld listed on sale for $599 (yesterday), and I just ordered mine from AudioMidi.......

that seems pretty cheap.....I'm wondering if they are compensating ahead-of-time for the damage it will recieve intransit from the MF warehouse.

Probably offering that price to compete with Nova Musik.

Now you can see the cover of the new magazine. Head over to:

There's also an interview with Sigur Rós & something on the Kaossilator, it seems. I might just have to buy that magazine :D
