Controlling synth via guitar??

Sorry, I tried searching for this in past posts but only got 4000 results with nothing to do with this.

I was basically wanting to know what the best way to go about controlling synths with a guitar is. I've seen those Roland GR midi pickups but they only seem to be compatible with GR synths? Any other clues?

Also, any GR synth has midi out and lets you control any synth.

Also check out http://www.brianmooreguitars.com . They're heavily devotd to guitar controllers. They've manufactured MIDI interfaces, 13-pin jacks and USB ports. There's also a pick-up/interface box you can buy from Roland. I just can't remember what it's called.

It's called the Roland GI 20. It takes the signal from a GK-x pickup and turns it into MIDI.

Yeah I've read about them. But I've read that a lot of people have problems with poor tracking and whatnot. Also the fact that it would cost me near $1000 just to midify my guitar.

I was thinking more along the lines of pitch-to-voltage converters, which I'm sure wouldn't make tracking any easier but could be simpler/cheaper? If they happened to make pitch-to-CS Voltage converters that would be particularly swell, but highly unlikely.

Ach! Thanks for the help but I think I'll have to post-pone this grand plan...

Such things exist, but they aren't great and you could never play chords.
