I own the Synare 1, 2, and 3

The 2 has the sequencer. Use it a ton in my recordings.

Which model are you trying to get a better understanding of?

The Synare 1 & 3 seem pretty interesting.
Considering you have 1,2, and 3, what is your favorite amongst them?

The Synare PS-2 was Star's flagship model and IMHO sounds the best. With the sequencer + sub oscillator, you could approach moog-like sounds.

That being said, build quality was not the best. They used household masking tape right on the circuit boards. This is especially the case with the PS-1 and why the pads have difficulty triggering over time.

PS-3 and 3X units are quite common and are more reliable, at least in my experiences...

Star Instruments was founded by ex-EML employees. So as far as sound goes they knew what they were doing.
