Best All-Time Synths?

Post by Crighton » Mon Jul 30, 2007 10:20 am

Hey guys. If money was no object, what synths would be at the top of you list and how would you get hold of them?

Probably the Roland System 700. Never played one but i have'nt met a Roland mono that i did'nt like yet. They were pretty limited so i imagine having a whole bunch of them with free routing would be pretty sweet.

There's one coming up for sale in Brighton so money is the only limiting factor.

The Synthi 100 is pretty impressive from a sheer physical point of view.
Though the stuff i've heard from it was'nt all that impressive. It'd be pretty rad to have one of those still. Who knows,i could be the Synthi 100 king on the planet without ever realizing it. Think of the loss for the humanity that would be,if it was the case. So just to make sure that does'nt happen i'll start a Synthi100 fundraiser.

C'mon give me your creditcard numbers. It's for the benefit of mankind. :D

my dream rig (for my actual band) it's a rack with:

Waldorf Q Rack (expanded to 32 voices)
Radical Technologies Spectralis
Oberheim MC3000D (rack version of MC3000)
Line 6 POD xt pro
DSI Polyevolver Rack
an analog mixer

all hooked to a custom-made Keytar (i think i can buy spare parts from doepfer)

Forgot about the Korg PS 3300. The 3100 is one of my favourite analog polys and as the 3300 is more or less 3 of 'em in the same box i figured that'd be pretty sweet.

A System 700 and a PS 3300 is a pretty sweet combo.What more could you possibly want ? :D

Just a Synthi 100, please.

Edit: Isn't once enough? Did you have to post this thread 4 times, in different sections?

one of my (over the top) wish lists...

jomox resonator neuronium

macbeth m5

doepfer schaltwerk + a100 system

dsi pek

nord wave (when it comes out)

sherman filterbank

korg ms10/ms50/sq10

yamaha cs30

roland tr808

mpc1000

a trip to the hardware store for supplies

some welding skills

all the little metasonix boxes

one each of every delay pedal ever made

a nice (bigger/louder/meaner) keyboard amp or three

a 48 channel a&h or mackie onyx mixer

a huge, custom built room with beautiful acoustics

a pile of mics from b.l.u.e., royer and audix

a pile of high end preamps/compressors (isa428/adl600/summit/ua/el etc...)

an 8 track 1/2" reel to reel tape machine.

and a magic beer fairy that lives in a spare room at the studio. :D

most things i could just order online because they are available new, but i'd have to do some digging for the vintage pieces (you don't exactly see ms50's hanging around doing nothing at your local music shop ;) ). finding someone to design and build me a nice acoustically balanced room shouldn't be hard with a huge pile of money.

as for the beer fairy... well... i'll keep my fingers crossed. :P

ok, I'll bite.

Actually getting Wiard 300 Series and (hopefully) EMS VCS3

Then my money no object list would be;

Yamaha CS80
Roland VP330
Buchla 200e
PPG Wave

Really quite a modest list!
