=P~ It's beautiful...the minimoog I mean. hehe. The P'08 and the Minimoog look dashing together. Like past meets present in a storm of wonderful sounds.

I've read a lot of this thread, but not all. Can someone tell me what the conclusion is about whether or not the p'08 and the 'analog' side of the evolver sound the same or different?

I assume it is different but read somewhere in a different forum, where somone talking to Dave Smith at a show suggested that he suggested that they were identical.

general feeling is that they sound different I think. apparently DS tweaked the chips differently for the PO8 and also the po8 tends to saturation instead of distortion at the higher settings unlike the evolver. to me the demos sound smoother too.

You can try the demos here if you haven't heard them:

http://www.ex5tech.com/demos/Prophet_'08

In the "quick_sampler" folder, listen to the bass in "Tom Sawyer" and "Broken Wing".

In the "the_rest" folder, listen to "Analog Squire Bass", "Basses Seven", and "Black Bass".

I like this song a lot, and Imho the P8 is sounding best like this. smooth and musical. I also like the sleepy side of the song, from most of the great demos I've listened from you site, not many are like this. after listening for several times, I would certainly enjoy more of it. thanks.

To my ears the Prophet '08 sounds noticeably wetter than the Prophet 5 rev 3 ever did. it also sounds smoother and more musical + it doesnt sound dated. Dont get me wrong....i love the original prophet....but this new remake sounds fresh and useable within a modern context. Perfect.

Great sounds DocT. if you get the time, please do more of these mellow style Prophet tracks...I really like your demos mate. Stylus drums? You using preset grooves or you contrcuting your own patterns?

Cheers bud
