It does look cool. The first run is very expensive and limited but a company like Yamaha understand the idea that selling a cheap product to the masses is much more profitable than selling an expensive product to a few. I imagine the official product will be cheaper and probably as cheap as Yamaha can profitably make them for. I don't think Yamaha is interested in a boutique market.

Here's a youtube demonstration by the creator in lovely engrish:
http://snipurl.com/1q6k3
His voice is out in the beginning but it improves after a minute or so.
From what I understand this is like a MIDI sketchpad/piano roll thingie with a cool lighting effect?
He explains that the horizontal direction is the timeline, and vertical is the pitch. Then he plots in a sequence of notes and they play back. Just like the piano roll in Cubase. If you drag your mouse around a piano roll in a sequencer, you get the same cacophony of notes.

Its fantastic... being able to build your own custom panels is really great. Have you seen some of the cool sequencers that people have done on YouTube? Its pretty impressive what you can do. It has some shortcomings, but a lot them can be overcome with MIDI-OX scripting.Zamise wrote:I think so too. If I'm gona pay that much I might as well go all the way and get a Lemur. How is that thing?StepLogik wrote:Matrixsynth reporting MSRP of GBP$599 or about US$1200

Yeah, I've watched a lot of them, priced one out and it seemed like it converted to $3200. Is that correct? I'd like one so I can build a custom panel with 16 faders straight across as so I can run some of my other gears velocity simultaniously startrek next gen transporter console style. My concern was for its midi implimentation out on it. So, does it have to run through a computer and you've got to do Midi-OX scripting for something like that?StepLogik wrote:Its fantastic... being able to build your own custom panels is really great. yeah i agree. if the thing had some cool algorithmic compositional tools that really inspired new phrases and song ideas, that would be one thing. but even that is not really worth that much money when you can get other tools like Karma and MusicWonk.Bitexion wrote:To me it looks like a glorified standalone cubase MIDI piano roll.
