What do you think, which synth was used for Equinoxe 4 sequence.
Most people think It's ARP2600, and so do I, but something tells me it could be Oberheim two-voice.
So what do you think and why

thanks
The SEM's don't have keytracking on the filter and the Equinoxe 4 sequence sounds quite even over two octaves, it also sounds more like a 24db LPF than a 12db to me as I've got closer to this sound with a 24db with other gear.
Saying that I really don't know for sure and could be well off but I could try recreating it on my mates 2600 and see how close I can get.
I think the main lead could well be a SEM 2voice tho.

Sadly the vid doesn't really tell you that much as he's just playing anything that looks good for the video.

It's funny you should mention 24db filter, because I had the same thoughts yesterday, while I was trying to come up with a same time on demo of Arturia 2600V. Even though I didn't quite come up with the right sound ( http://free-os.t-com.hr/redmist/eqarp.mp3 sorry for the demo-pauses), I did notice that it came anywhere near the right texture only when using 4-pole setting.
Sorry for the cheesy strings, I don't usually play electronic music, so this is just a simple home keyboard.

And about keytracking, I never though about that, thanks for pointing it out.

By the way, what did you mean by "main lead"? I can't remember any lead in Equinoxe4, 5, yes, but 4 is all strungs for the melody as far as I can remember, plus staccato Eminent later.

Well I don't KNOW anything of course, but some people claim it to be an eminent preset, here is a demo of eminent showing it at around 4:08:

on the other hand at Place de la Concorde , Jarre seems to be playing this sound on CS60 if I remember correctly

I don't know

Well, this confirms it: if Moog LP is good enough for Geddy Lee and JMJ, then I know it's good enough for me! :D

According to another thread, the CD/DVD/3-D (stereoscopic) of this concert will be out 11/26. I can hardly wait. :D

I think we can both say the staccato Eminent preset is bob on from Radek's demo  tho you should know a little better than to take what JMJ is playing as real especially at La Concorde if you know what I mean?

Never realized how much 310 was used on the early stuff tho. 8)

The concert at Place De La Concorde was 100% playback AFAIK unless he did some random adds that I haven't discovered. Btw the video in which he plays the Equinoxe 4 lead on the CS-60 is a studio video shoot used for the Concorde VHS. From the real concert he "played" it on a Korg PS-3010 keyboard, probably meant to be connected to the PS3200 or 3300.

That is so ironic. The booklet of remastered CD for Equinoxe says something like:
many thought his machine-intensive music couldn' be played live, and he decided to prove them wrong....bla blah..leading to Place de la Concorde

lol

Wow, that's impressive. Is JMJ going to give you a job as programmer?

It would be cool if you could get your hands on an OB 2 voice for comparison- some of the ARP sounds are not quite like the original, and I don't think it's lack of programming skill :)

Did you use the ARP sequencer, or MIDI?
