New Voyager but which color??

Post by KalinsFarm » Thu Sep 27, 2007 4:13 am

I sold my old convertable tonight for cash and a Vega mandolin. I'm thinking of spending cash on a new Voyager instead of an LP but which color?

I have only seen and played an electric blue. It was cool but the solar series seems nice too. Any input from eyes-on experience??

Are you serious? What could be more subjective than color? I don`t see how anyone`s preference could help you. That said, if I were getting a voyager I`d get Jade on Maple 8)

My birthday is in a month. I'll be treating myself to Blue on Walnut. My desktop (1.49MB):

There is really no question here. The choice is obvious!

Blimey! You're asking people for advice on which colour to go for?! :? That's a VSE first, as far as I'm aware!!

Right, practical advice - go and look at pictures of the light/wood combos on the Moog site and go with the first that jumps out at you and stick with the decision.

I'd go for Lunar & Maple - very classy.
I didn't get where I am today by posting on internet forums.

I second the Electric Blue, but mainly because it's what I've got (and, it didn't cost me anymore than the Performer Edition.

That Lunar version isn't half bad, though. But, does it have the backlit front panel like the Blue?
The greatest thing we ever have is the will to survive.

Rest in peace, Dr. Robert Moog.

Yes, that's the combo I was thinking about but the Moog site is not that great and Voyager web pictures are hit and miss.

Actually Carbon, it was the recent posting of a picture of your Mini that made me think about this. Is the finish on that cherry or walnut or something else?

That finish does look pretty good in the photos.

In real life, the wood is rather light and the darkness comes from decades of unremoveable grime

I've cleaned it the best I could and, since the photo was taken, I've put NOS knobs on it. Thats enough "renovation" for me.

You could always get a blond V'ger and have some diesel mechanics pass it around for a few days to get that "authentic 30yo patina" but the cherry wood is sweet. 8)

Carbon, I have to admit... your Minimoog is one of the nicer ones I have seen. You try to downplay its condition...but in the photos it looks great.

Well, thanks, I did do a lot of work on it to get it looking as nice as it does. :D

The wood color is about 30% dirt. Adds character... ;)
