Your looking for a patch called Fretless Bass. It was a standard patch on every mid 80s synth. I'm not sure if the DX7 did it first but it is meant to sound like a fretless electric bass.
To make it you would want the pitch to slide up during the attach and have a less sharp attack than usual for a bass patch. A good patch would make the rate of the pitch slide velocity sensitive.

how I can make the same bass sound like that?
It is also in this clip at around 0.38 to 0.41 seconds
is it a DX7 sound?
I want to make similar sounding bass sounds using something like FM7 or anything else that is good.
What would be the way of designing or obtaining this sound?
Thanks

I was just watching it a few days ago..
Tango & Cash?
and yes, it's an fm bass->fretless, you can probably find the preset online somewhere..

Go on the net and download some DX7 patches, or do some tweaking in FM7, you'll nail that sound pretty quickly. I can do it on my Microkorg and it can only do crude 2-op FM.
That music in the Youtube clip is from Top Gun, I think from Harold Faltermeyer.
