Korg Radias 2.0

Post by Zarith » Wed Oct 17, 2007 10:31 pm

:D The Radias OS 2.0 is out now.

You can get it here:

http://www.korg.com/service/downloadinfo.asp?DID=1340

OS 2.0 offers new modulation destinations, support for the Komponent System, and compatibility with Windows Vista.

A new set of 128 programs is also available:

http://www.korg.com/service/downloadinfo.asp?DID=1339

They are much better than the factory preset in my opinion. There are a lot of evolving pads, crazy sequences, warm basses and noisy structures. The whole set sounds dark, experimental and aggressive. I'm fascinated by some of these programs, they push the Radias in totally new territories. Really inspiring stuff!

\:D/ Have fun! It's free!

I agree, got these loaded yesterday and they're much better than most of the factory presets. Got these and some of the original sounds now loaded for a really good bank to play around with.

Has anyone successfully used the "make template" option since OS 2.0?

I tried it today, it said "completed" but didn't seem to actually save the patch I wanted to the template location I specified. Lost a really good patch cos I stupidly didn't save it anywhere else. Wanted someone else to confirm before I cry "bug". Cheers.

Some other nice improvements though :)

Paul

You still have to use the write it function on the Radias - did the same thing as you but I had the most of the patch saved on the template so I just had to figure out what I did to finish the patch once again.

Ah, will give it another try then; weird that it said "completed" after I hit "yes". Rather unintuitive but hopefully I'll suss it next time, thanks.

Did they add a "pickup" feature for knob turns?

Isn't that there already and called "Catch" mode?

Setting catch mode:

P01 GLOBAL

P01-1:COMMON

7: Knob Mode [Jump, Catch]

Jump
When you turn the knob, the parameter value will jump
to the value indicated by the knob, regardless of the
stored value. Since this makes it easy to hear the results
while editing, we recommend that you use this setting
when editing.

Catch
When you turn the knob, the parameter value will not
change until the knob position matches the stored value.
We recommend that you use this setting when you don’t
want the sound to change abruptly, such as during a live
performance.

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

More free patches from Korg Germany programmed by techno artist Chris Liebings. Not sure if these use 2.0 features or not.
