Oh man, I really don't need anymore gear (I actually downsized recently)...especially of the synth / drum machine variety (except the Kaossilator). At this point I'm looking at 2-3 hardware effects (Holy Grail Plus, Metasonix TM-7) and a Logic 8 upgrade from Logic Express. The GAS is dying.

I'm about the same - might pick up some FX (eventide pedals, KP3, evolver?) but don't need anything and don't have real GAS for anything but the Boom.

I had the regular Holy grail and it was great... enjoy!

I just wish Roland would make the TR-808, TR-909, SH-101, MC-202, TB-303, Jupiter 8, and Juno-106 (without dead voices) again, and all with MIDI.

...The Roland Mark II series...

I mean sure- those things would be analog, and costly to Roland, but they would be costly to us too. People do shell out money for things like that.

But here's what really burns my Bacon:

MC-303 --about $400 new in 1996.

TB-303 --about $400 new in 1982.

Maybe Moog will bring out a Model 55. Again.
Or Ford may go for a Model T.
Maybe Raquel Welch WILL model again. At 70.

...and Santa will find a chimney to come down in this central heated desert of a world.
...and ah just thought, cuntin well hit it!
GOAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!

Oh yeah and a used one was even cheaper than that- by more than $50.

I gave my MC-303 away because it didn't have adequate MIDI implementation, and I wanted my friend Mike to get a little intro to electronic musicmaking. I also loaned him my CS1x. He's having fun with both.

You could have loaned most anything you have. That TX81Z will keep you busy until your bawhairs reach the floor. Course, dont take my word for it. You keep right in there. Nothing is better for the soul than self learning.

Yeah, but I don't think Roland sold many TBs at full price...it was a failure. Stores were giving them away with purchases of other gear at one point. On the other hand, the MC-303 was a success. THAT should really burn that baboy for ya!!!

If it ran on batteries, I'd be so ready to buy one!

Seriously, I have the same bug that JSRockit suffers: I'm looking for the perfect portable.

For me it would be a drum machine or groovebox: I can sit at a keyboard or put a synth on a table and bang away for hours. If I'm programming a rhythm I would rather be curled up on the couch or sitting outdoors. So my idea of perfect would be:

Battery powered - preferably rechargeable. (Why don't more synths do that, a la the Novation X-Station?)

True XOX style programming - so that rules out the last few years of Roland/Boss drum machines

Some kind of chaining/song mode

Some external sequencing capabilities

Either sample based or VA drum synthy with maybe a VA 303-type channel.

So, if Korg could maybe squeeze the capabilities of the ESX/EMX into a box the size of the ES-1 and make it rechargeable, I'd be happy.

Is that too much to ask???
