More Roland JX-3p Related Malarkey

Post by ralphred1965 » Tue Nov 13, 2007 11:20 am

My lovely wife has bought me a JX-3P for Christmas, I've had a good play and it all works a treat and the only problem is a crackly volume pot. I have a question the manual and most of the JX-3P's only have Midi in and Midi out ports, but mine has in, out & through. When was the extra port added?

Mrs Ralph is O.K., tho I think she'd have a sense of humour failure if I blew 2K on a JP8

According to Peter Forrest's A-Z, the Thru socket was included from s/n 340700 onwards.

Mine has a MIDI through on it.

Seems to be a lot of buzz about the JX-3P on here lately.

I've owned all three versions of the JX-3P synth engine. The synth itself, the MKS version and now the GR-700.

Not having had any of these for sometime I was pleasantly surprised when I got the GR 700. I was very impressed with the sound quality. Not too long ago, I traded away a Juno 2 as I felt it didn't have enough strength for anything but basic pads. The JX-3P has a much better tone, even with one oscillator. I'm not sure why Roland gave up on the JX series in favor of the Junos.

The only thing about the JX-3P is the very basic midi, but being the first with midi that's excusable.

Tell me about it - they go for next to nothing. Didn't you also sell your JX-10 as well?

At least you'll be able to buy one back quite easily if need be - the prices don't seem to be rising at all.

I have owned two JX3Ps. As long as you are able to sell them for what you bought them for, think of them as pure equity! I owned one, sold it for what I bought it for, bought another for the price I bought the first for, and sold that one for the price I bought it for. They're wonderful that way.
For some reason, people just aren't picking up how useful they are and how great they sound. ::: shrugs::: I rejoice the fact. : )

Must admit I always wondered why there was such a fuss over the Juno6/60 and the JX-3P was relatively ignored
With my luck once I get the money for one they'll stop being ignored. From what I hear on sound samples and on videos they're quite a good synth. Beginning to wish I'd gotten one of those instead of the Poly-800...

Bought my JX-3P 17 years ago for $150. Stupidly sold it 3 years ago for $150. Debating another. Interesting to hear the obscure Red Dwarf quote ralphred.
