Worst Synth Presets
JP-4 Sax - This sound is so cheesy. Its what you would expect to get out of a cheesy Organ. Despite being so bad, this sound was actually used on a record (HL-Hard Times). Hard to belive.
JP-4 The Force - This sound is actually usable but is definatly not a very impressive FX sound. Its just silly. Is there a Star Wars connection? Star Wars came out one year before the JP-4 so maybe Roland created this sound for Star Wars fans.
This thread is dedicated to those silly Presets everybody loves to hate.

At the time I find use for a 'horrible' preset, I start to like it.
It happened to many presets and I think, some of them are irrationally hated.

It's way easier to make noise different from a preset than to make a complete song with presets. Endless tweaking wankery is poison. All presets are poison. They should all be destroyed.

That's the one Jo Callis refered to as a 'bitchin' elephant'.Analogue Crazy wrote:JP-4 Sax - This sound is so cheesy. Its what you would expect to get out of a cheesy Organ. Despite being so bad, this sound was actually used on a record (HL-Hard Times). Hard to belive.

Art is not a copy of the real world. One of the damn things is enough.

That reminds me of the week I owned a Roland D-110. It may have some good sounds in it, but I didn't want to give up a year of my life trying to find out.th0mas wrote:MC-303 has a lot of contenders in this field if I remember correctly from the week I owned one.
And your barking dog comment hits home with all the digital junk like dancing santas, singing fish, and of course, Jingle Bell dog choirs set in the first 3 feet of almost every retail store this time of year.

The only analog synth I have owned with "pre-sets" was an SY-2. I dont think there was a preset I didnt use on it. (my jup-6 has pre-sets but they arent named)

How about some sound samples of your terrible presets?!
Especially the Jupiter 4 presets, AC.

The D-50 has some pretty awful new age presets, as does the JD-800. The ION has loads of stinkers if I remember rightly too. And it doesn't get much worse than my Teisco S-100P's "muted trumpet".
I actually like that A16 patch on the JX-3P - it's kind of cool.
