White SH-101?
http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/2007/11 ... h-101.html
Real or fake? I remember a pretty lengthy discussion about the legendary white sh-101 in the past.
I hope it is real. It needs a white mod grip. No...betterr...a blue mod grip and a red strap.... and a support our troops magnet.
booooooooooo.

People have talked about a white version but I wonder about the validity. I've seen pictures of another white one and the writting was blue and didn't look like the writting on the other SH-101's. This one almost looks too nice. The time period these were made in yielded some ugly color combinations and the grey + black on white almost seems too clean and modern of a color scheme for the time period. It does look nice though.

It's hard to say. I guess the white one just looks like an inverted grey one so it is possible and this does look very nice, as in factory nice. It's just the white model seems to be such an elusive synth and it appears that there are "fake" white ones out there, one has to wonder if it ever really existed at all.WDW wrote:SH101 -- 1983.

Same era. Might be a factory model. Colours are similar, but lighting, film/sensor, etc. could account for variances in the tone of the images.

All I can say is yes the white sh-101 does exist and no it's not from the factory. I can't remember which famous musician uses one particularly, but there is one who does. It was whitewashed professionally and then a new overlay consisting of the Roland layout was laid down, as simple as painting your completed x0xb0x and laying down the overlay
But, no... They are NOT from the factory. There are three colors only, red, blue, and the not so colourful, grey.

Firstly, I think that "natural" is not applicable to plastic.
Secondly, looking carefully, the entire bottom part of the synth is the same colour. The control panel appears slightly darker. Does that mean Photoshop? Not necessarily. Could simply be two different pieces with two different shades.
Thirdly, based strictly upon these small images, we will never know. Now, if we can get some larger images and different angles, then we could more intelligently evaluate it.
In any case, at least in my opinion, it is quite handsome.
