Or do you mean a particular part of the song?
I think he means the synthesized TOM sound, which is probably triggered from the 808 to a synthesizer to provide that BLIP type sound. Most notably done to death by Egyptian Lover on lot of his recordings.
The 808 only plays the Bass Drum, Closed Hi-Hat, Cowbell and Snare.

whatever Kraftwerk used on the autobahn....I could be wrong but I am 99.99% sure the whole song is just a kraftwerk record being worked over on a turntablereezy wrote:thanks for the replies. i know its possible to recreate the sound through analog synthesis. i was just wondering if that tom sound was special to a particular drum machine.

Yeah Arthur Baker famous for producing this song, but - Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force's "Planet Rock" steals the main synth line from Trans-Europe Express and uses lyrics from Numbers. The actual song only cost about $600 to make and sold 645,000 copies, but resulted in Kraftwerk filing a lawsuit against the hip-hop group.Re-Member wrote:Wow. Already ten posts in and NO ONE has mentioned Arthur Baker.
